Bishwa Nath Singh :
It's my thought for the day that I would like to share with everybody.Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve clearly knew his goal, persisted ceaselessly throughout his life with missionary zeal and transformed the destiny of the Indian Woman. The first university for women in India - The SNDT University and educational institutions for women covering the entire spectrum ranging from pre-primary schools to post-graduate, engineering, vocational and professional colleges bear eloquent testimony to his indomitable spirit, untiring perseverance and determined effortsMany undreamt of things had happened in his life and given a different turn to his career. The various incidence that had taken place during his high school and, later at his college education at The Wilson College, Mumbai had convinced him of the role of destiny and lead to shape his life and career as a teacher and then Professor of Mathematics. He had written two autobiographical wo had ended the latter with the words that here ends the story of his life and hope that this simple story will serve some useful purpose. He was awarded Doctor of Letters (D. Litt.) by Banaras Hindu University in 1942, D.Litt. by Pune University in 1951, D.Litt. by S.N.D.T. University in 1954 and LL.D. by University of Mumbai in 1957.The grateful nation had honoured him with the second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 1955 and the country’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’ in 1958 on attaining his age of one hundred years. He was a great saga who had lived for one hundred four years.lLet us derive lesson from his life and carry out his legacy truthfully to reacg to his height!
