Story related with childhood & youth of Lord Krishna as flashed on the Profile Page of mine on the f.b on Sept.1,2010.

Bishwanath Singh: As I had mentioned earlier that Krishna Janamashthmi is celebrated all over the world with great fervor and festivity in Iskcon temples situated there when People at large who observe fast for the day or others go & have a look-up to the deities of Lord Krishna in those temples ,worship there, offer some fruits and sweets and after midnight colorful function, they go for community dinner as Prasad.I had described the story that is related with birth of Lord Krishna esrlier.Let us have a look-up to the story related to his childhood & youth!Since 1966, the Krishna-bhakti movement has also spread outside India. This is largely due to the Hare Krishna movement, the largest part of which is the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and for that credit should go to our great saint His Holiness Swami Prabhupad for his untiring efforts. Krishnology is a term coined to highlight parallels between Krishnaism in Vaishnava theology and Christological dogma in Christianity. Nand Ji was the head of a community of cow-herders, and he settled in Vrindavana. The stories of Krishna's childhood and youth tell how he became a cow herder, his mischievous pranks as Makhan Chor (butter thief), his foiling of attempts to take his life, and his role as a protector of the people of Vrindavana. Krishna is said to have killed the demons like Putana, sent by Kamsa for Krishna's life. He tamed the serpent Kāliyā, who previously poisoned the waters of Yamuna river, thus leading to the death of the cowherds. In Hindu art, Krishna is often depicted dancing on the multi-hooded Kāliyā. Krishna is believed to have lifted the Govardhana hill and taught Indra, the king of the devas and rain, a lesson to protect native people of Vrindavana from persecution by Indra and prevent the devastation of the pasture land of Govardhan. Indra had too much pride and was angry when Krishna advised the people of Vrindavana to take care of their animals and their environment that provide them with all their necessities, instead of worshipping Indra annually by spending their resources. In the view of some, the spiritual movement started by Krishna had something in it which went against the orthodox forms of worship of the Vedic gods such as Indra. The stories of his play with the gopis (milkmaids) of Vrindavana, especially Radha (daughter of Vrishbhanu, one of the original residents of Vrindavan) became known as the Rasa lila and were romanticized in the poetry of Jayadeva, author of the Gita Govinda. These became important as part of the development of the Krishna bhakti traditions worshiping Radha Krishna Let us all join to pay our humble obeisance to the lotus feet of Lord Krishna and seek His bliss for well-being of all living creatures of the world and that will be our true homage to Him!

A significance of Krishna Janamashtmi that is celebrated tonight all over the world. as flashed by me on the f.b.

Bishwanath Singh: We have been told that Krishna Janamashtmi is going to be celebrated in the midnight of the 1st of September 2010 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.Lord Krishna is widely cherished as incarnation of the Almighty God who had unique distinction of killing many demons who were threat to peace & prospe...rity that time.Though he was born having his parentage Basudeo & Deoki. Traditional belief based on scriptural details and astrological calculations gives the date of Krishna's birth, known as Janmashtami, as either 18 or 21 July 3228 BCE. Krishna belonged to the royal family of Mathura, and was the eighth son born to the princess Devaki, and her husband Vasudeva. Mathura was the capital of the Yadavas, to which Krishna's parents Vasudeva and Devaki belonged. The king Kansa, Devaki's brother, had ascended the throne by imprisoning his father, King Ugrasena. Afraid of a prophecy that predicted his death at the hands of Devaki's eighth son, he had locked the couple into a prison cell. After Kansa killed the first six children, and Devaki's apparent miscarriage of the seventh, being transferred to Rohini as Balarama, Krishna took birth. Since Vasudeva believed Krishna's life was in danger, Krishna was secretly taken out of the prison cell to be raised by his foster parents, Yasoda and Nanda in Gokula. Two of his other siblings also survived, Balarama (Devaki's seventh child, transferred to the womb of Rohini, Vasudeva's first wife) and Subhadra(daughterof Vasudeva and Rohini, born much later than Balarama and Krishna).According to Bhagavata Purana it is believed that Krishna was born without a sexual union, by mental transmission from the mind of Vasudeva into the womb of Devaki. Hindus believe that in that time, this type of union was possible for holy people.Let us pay our humble obeisance to Lord Krishna who is our savior!

The Prime Minister of Iraq has very clearly said that the end of US combat operations on August 31,2010 has restored Iraq’s sovereignty and meant it stood as an equal to the United States, despite political deadlock and persistent violence. US troop levels were cut to fifty thousand before the partly symbolic deadline of Aug. 31,2010 as was pledged by President of US Barack Obama to fulfill his pledge to end the war launched by his predecessor George W. Bush. The six remaining US brigades will turn their focus to training Iraqi police and troops as Iraq takes charge of its own destiny ahead of a full US withdrawal by the end of next year. Iraq today is sovereign and independent that is what Prime Minister of Iraq Nuri al-Maliki told Iraqis in a televised address to mark the US forces’ shift to assisting rather than leading the fight against a Sunni Islamist insurgency and Shi’ite militia. With the execution of the troop pullout, our relations with the United States have entered a new stage between two equal, sovereign countries. Barack Obama promised war-weary US voters he would extricate the United States from the war, launched by Bush with the stated aim of destroying Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons were found. Almost a trillion dollars have been spent and more than four thousand for hundred forty US soldiers and over one lakh Iraqi civilians killed since the 2003 invasion. US President Barack Obama’s Democrats are battling to retain control of Congress in November elections and he faces other challenges a worsening war in Afghanistan and storm clouds over the economy. August 31,2010 deadline was to some extent a symbolic one. The 50,000 US soldiers staying on in Iraq for another 16 months are a formidable and heavily-armed force. Iraqi security forces have already been taking the lead since a bilateral security pact came into force in 2009. US soldiers pulled out of Iraqi towns and cities in June last year. Nevertheless, Iraqis are apprehensive as US military might is scaled down, especially amid a political impasse six months after an inconclusive election. We’ll be just fine, they’ll be just fine that is what US Vice President Joe Biden said after flying into Baghdad on the 30th of August 2010 to mark the end of combat operations and to urge Iraqi leaders to speed up the formation of a new government. Notwithstanding what the national press says about increased violence, the truth is things are very much different. Things are much safer, Biden told Maliki on Tuesday before their meeting was closed to the media. Toppled dictator Saddam Hussein’s outlawed Baath party crowed that the US pullback was a result of devastating strikes against US troops by Iraqi resistance fighters.. Violence has declined sharply since the peak in 2006/07 of the sectarian slaughter unleashed by the invasion, but a recent series of attacks has rung alarm bells. The animosity that led to carnage between majority Shi’ites and once dominant Sunnis has not healed, and a potentially explosive dispute between Arabs and Kurds has not been resolved. More than 1.5 million Iraqis are still displaced after being driven from their homes by violence. Many live in squalor. Many Iraqis had hoped the March 7 election would chart a path towards stability at a time when deals to develop the country’s vast oilfields hold the promise of prosperity. Instead, the ballot could widen ethnic and sectarian rifts if the actual vote leader, ex-premier Iyad Allawi’s Sunni-backed cross-sectarian Iraqiya alliance, is excluded from power by the major Shi’ite-led political factions. Let us hope that this move will deliver good result to Iraq people at large who will work hard for their peace, happiness & prosperity! It is high time that we must express our gratitude to US President Barack Obama to stick to his words for betterment in Iraq.

The universe is heading for the next major climate change conference in Cancun that is expected to be held later this year on course for global warming of up to 3.5C in the coming century as per series of scientific analyses. The failure of last December's UN climate summit in Copenhagen means that cuts in carbon emissions pledged by the international community will not be enough to keep the anticipated warming within safe limits. Two analyses of the Copenhagen Accord and its pledges, by Dr Sivan Kartha of the Stockholm Environment Institute, and by the Climate Action Tracker website, suggest that cuts that are currently promised under Copenhagen, the world will still warm by 3.5C by 2100. Such a rise would be likely to have disastrous effects on agricultural production, water availability, natural ecosystems and sea-level rise across the world, producing tens of millions of refugees. A month ago, in its annual State of the Climate report, published in conjunction with the UK Met Office's Hadley Centre, America's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration listed ten separate indicators of a warming planet, seven of them rising – ranging from air temperature over land and humidity to sea level – and three of them declining: Arctic sea-ice, glaciers, and spring snow cover. The scientific evidence that our world is warming is unmistakable as NOAA revealed lately. Cancun, or COP 16 as it is officially known, will again see ministers and officials from nearly 200 nations grapple with the politics of global warming, but no one thinks they will be able to close a widening breach in the world's defenses against dangerously rising temperatures – the wide variable gigiatonne gap This is widely considered the most that human society can stand without serious consequences. Yet the international community does not seem any closer to consensus on the need to make further reductions in carbon and at Cancun, which takes place from 29 November to 10 December, it is at best side issues on which any progress is bound to be made. The Coalition's Climate Change Secretary, the Liberal Democrat Chris Huhne is likely to travel to Berlin to discuss strengthening the EU climate target in advance of the Cancun meeting from 20 per cent to 30 per cent, with his German and French counterparts, Norbert Röttgen and Jean-Louis Borloo. It is great task to rebuild the credibility of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change process. Cutting emissions by 30 per cent by 2020 would be a game-changer in shifting investment into new clean technologies, generating jobs and growth in supply chains across our economies. The great risk for Europe is in waking up late to these opportunities and losing out to other major blocs who are already eyeing up market share. It is hard to exaggerate the dire effect which the failure at Copenhagen has had both on the climate change negotiating process themselves and on the belief of those involved that an effective climate deal might be possible. A year ago, many environmentalists, scientists and politicians genuinely thought that the meeting in Denmark might produce a binding agreement to cut global CO2 by the 25-40 per cent, by 2020, which the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has calculated is necessary to keep the warming below . Now, it is presumed that the optimism has vanished. The Kyoto treaty runs out at the end of 2012 and the developing nations, led by China and India, wanted it renewed, while developed countries, including Britain and the rest of the EU, want a completely new treaty to share out the carbon-cutting burden. At Copenhagen last December, world leaders cobbled together an agreement which ended up devoid of any binding carbon emissions targets If there are no further breakdowns, it is possible that the meeting may at least restore faith in the UN climate process. Let us hope that all the world leaders will take it very seriously and strive hard to accomplish fruitful result!

The President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai is not a man to mince his words. The world has seen that right from civilian casualties to corruption charges, President Karzai has responded to all very intelligently. Now, it is the US forces withdrawal scheduled for the middle of next year that is proving to be a major concern. While the civilian side of the US President Barack Obama’s administration has maintained that the withdrawal will be as planned, the US military top command and Kabul seem more perturbed. So much so, that Afghan President Hamid Karzai has called the withdrawal timetable detrimental. He feels that it has given the insurgents a morale boost. Besides, the issue of Afghan civilian casualties at the hands of foreign forces and insurgent safe havens in Pakistan are factors that need immediate attention. As per statement of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the war cannot be won as long as insurgents take refuge across the border in Pakistan. As frustration over the war mounts in Kabul and Washington, another drama has unfolded. A recent New York Times report notes how one of Karzai’s aides, Mohammed Zia Salehi who was adviser on National Security, has been on the payroll of the CIA for the past many years. Previously having been arrested on corruption charges by Afghan anti–corruption agencies ,only to be released within hours thus Salehi is being termed as the father of controversy. It is said that he is unlikely to face persecution for he is privy to a lot of secrets that will cause great consternation in the presidential camp if divulged. What is highly ironic is how a parallel policy is being enacted in the war-torn state. On one hand is the pressure on Kabul to clean up its act and end corruption. And on the other hand is the US intelligence encouraging corruption through people like Salehi who doled out bribes and financial inducements on its behalf. While it is no secret that intelligence organizations usually employ such means it does expose the two tracked and incoherent US policy at play in Afghanistan. Salehi’s arrest had exposed his involvement in protecting New Ansari currency exchange from an investigation over sending billions of dollars abroad. Apparently, these financial transactions were at the behest of politicians, drug traffickers and insurgents. Furthermore, efforts at counter corruption are nullified when any investigation and subsequent action is swept away, with a stroke of the pen. Despite having vowed to root out corruption and setting up the anti-corruption organizations, President Hamid Karzai seems unwilling or unable to see it through. The recent Salehi expose, however, is likely to act as buffer in case Kabul is pulled up for failing to curb corruption. Having employed a man like Salehi, who played an integral part in perpetuating corrupt practices, Washington is hardly in a position to raise a storm. Up to thirty Taliban-linked fighters, including suicide bombers have attacked two Nato bases in Afghanistan's east very recently. At least twenty one fighters were killed and four Nato soldiers wounded in the pre-dawn attacks on August 28,2010 officials told Al Jazeera. The fighters launched the first attack on the Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khost province near the southeastern border with Pakistan before moving on to occupy the nearby Camp Chapman. The heavily fortified Chapman base is the site of an attack last December in which seven CIA officers were killed by a suicide bomber, the second-most deadly attack in CIA history. There seems to be reasoning in fear of Afghan President Hamid Karzai that Afghanistan will sustain huge loss after withdrawal of US force from Afghanistan by middle of next year.

Subject: "Kenya president ratifies new constitution-" Joy Online
.-

Bishwa Nath Singh from Dalmianagar (Bihar),India.

We are delighted to learn that Kenya has adopted a long awaited new constitution, more than three weeks after it was overwhelmingly approved in a national referendum. The two principals President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have the uphill task of ensuring that the launched harmonized draft gets the support it needs to become law. Prior to its publication, the American ambassador had urged the two principals to ensure that there is consensus on the draft constitution. The US envoy says constitutional review must be achieved by this coalition Govt.. All said and done were rectified in due course of time through referendum. Over tens of thousands of people watched as President Mwai Kibaki signed the document into law at a large ceremony in the capital, Nairobi. The debate over a new constitution had lasted twenty years .Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was present at the event, despite being wanted for war crimes. Human Rights Watch earlier called on the Kenyan authorities to either "arrest him or bar him entry" if he were to attend. Kenya has ratified the statute requiring it to co-operate with the International Criminal Court, which has issued an arrest warrant for Bashir. However, last month the African Union instructed its members - which include Kenya - not to apprehend Bashir. The new constitution is expected to bring significant changes as expected. Some have billed it as the most important political event in Kenya's history since it gained independence from Britain in 1963.The large crowd gathered in Nairobi's main Uhuru park to watch their leader promulgate the new document, amid gun salutes and a grand parade. After Mr Kibaki signed his name, he held the document up and there was a huge cheer from the audience. The new constitution will bring a more decentralized political system, which will limit the president's powers and replace corrupt provincial governments with local counties. It will also create a second chamber of parliament - the Senate - and set up a land commission to settle ownership disputes and review past abuses. It is hoped that the changes will help bring an end to the tribal differences that have brought violence to the country in the past. The BBC's East Africa correspondent, Peter Greste, says the debate for a new constitution ebbed and flowed with each new political crisis until the elections of 2007, which were followed by the worst ethnic violence Kenya has yet seen. In the wake of the violence, everyone acknowledged that something fundamental had to change if the country was to avoid yet more trouble, our correspondent says. The historic journey that we began over twenty years ago is now coming to a happy end that is what Kibaki had said earlier this month after the results of the referendum were announced on 5 th of August 2010.There will be challenges along the way. But it is important that we look forward with renewed optimism to better days ahead. It has been revealed that the previous constitution allowed politicians to exploit tribal divisions, left courts weak, and concentrated power in the president's hands. While many Kenyans say that this is just a start - and that things could still go very wrong - most believe it is a fundamentally better document than the last. President Kibaki won a landslide victory in 2002 promising to change the constitution within 100 days of taking office. In 2005, he held a referendum but it failed to pass. The previous constitution was negotiated with the British in the early 1960s.

The grateful nation celebrates the birth centenary of Mother Teresa today that is on August 26,2010. Besides India, the day will be marked with celebration and thanksgiving in many parts of the world. Though, she was a simple nun with her unique brand of faith and compassion and was able to alleviate loneliness, hunger and destitution by reaching out through a worldwide mission to millions of abandoned, homeless and dying destitute, irrespective of their caste, faith or religion & nationality. She was born in Skopje, a city in the folds of the Balkans, then as now a crucible of many religions and races, she was the youngest of three children of deeply Catholic Albanian parents. Her father died when she was seven; her mother struggled hard to earn bread for her family and turned increasingly to the local church for spiritual sustenance. Young Agnes (as she was then known) encountered uncertainty and adversity early in life. The lessons of diligence, discipline, passion and kindness were imbibed in these early years. She began her new life from Calcutta in 1929. She had joined the Loreto Order as a novice aged 19. Here she would take her religious vows and teach for almost 20 years. In 1948, in an even more cataclysmic turn of events, again entirely of her own making, she left the convent doors behind her for a vision of the street. She had realized that this was where her true vocation lay, and she pursued this goal with diligence, even obstinacy. This she did till the Vatican made her its first exception in several hundred years, permitting her to step out of the Loreto Order, but with her vows intact. She would remain a nun but without belonging to an established Order of the Church. These were early signs of spirit and will power, together with prayerfulness and faith, laced with not inconsiderable charm, which would provide the propulsion for the quite incredible journey that lay ahead. By 1965, she had set up a vast network of service across India. The time had come for her to move her mission overseas. She saw need everywhere; there was plenty of the poor and hungry in divisive societies in each continent, in desperately poor and prosperous societies alike. And so she set up feeding centers and leprosy stations in Africa, AIDS hospices in North America, community programmers in the Australian outback, and a host of services that helped lift the most marginalized, hungry and lonely from a desolate life in streets and slums of Africa, Asia and the West.Although she herself remained fiercely Catholic, her brand of faith was not exclusive. She had said that she converse. She converts others to be a better Hindu, a better Muslim, a better Protestant, and a better Sikh.. From her humblest beginning in the slums and streets, she reached out to alleviate the problem she encountered by the simplest and most straightforward means available to her. Her thinking was both simple and complex: She had to be a administrator par excellence to set up a multinational organization that spread to 123 countries by the time she died, with the help of about 5,000 members of her Order, and countless millions volunteers. She was conferred” Bharat Ratna”- the highest civilian of India in recognition of her meritorious services rendered by her in 1980.. The Missionaries of Charity also established several leprosy outreach clinics throughout Calcutta, providing medication, bandages and food. As the Missionaries of Charity took in increasing numbers of lost children, Mother Teresa felt the need to create a home for them. In 1962, Mother Teresa received the Philippines-based Ramon Magsaysay Award. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize .She refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates, and asked that the funds be given to the poor in India .Let us join to pay our homage to her!

Subject: "Pakistan refuses relief work visas for Indians and Israelis"-The Times of India.

Bishwa Nath Singh from Dalmianagar (Bihar),India.

Pakistan battled on August 25,2010 to save areas threatened by more devastating flood waters as the United Nations warned that eight lakh people in desperate need of aid had been cut off by the deluge. The UN launched an urgent appeal Tuesday for more helicopters to deliver aid to those people reachable only by air, after floods triggered As monsoon floods continue to displace millions in southern Pakistan, an estimated eight lakh people in need across the country are only accessible by air," the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has said. Pakistan’s worst humanitarian catastrophe has affected more than seventeen million people, while officials warn that millions are at risk from disease and food shortages. Around one thousand five hundred people have been confirmed dead by Pakistani authorities, but UN officials have suggested the death toll could prove higher. These unprecedented floods pose unprecedented logistical challenges, and this requires an extraordinary effort by the international community," said John Holmes, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. Global pledges have topped seven hundred million dollars, but Pakistani and international relief officials have raised concerns about the slow pace of aid and Islamabad has warned that total losses could reach forty three billion dollars. Some four & half million people remain in urgent need of shelter, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Aug.25,2010.Another two million left homeless by the floods were due to have received shelter materials such as tents and plastic sheets within the next couple of days, IOM representative Salim Rehmat told a press conference. Officials warned yet more Pakistanis could be affected in the fertile southern plains of Sindh Province, which is worst affected. After dilly-dallying for several days, Pakistan recently accepted four days earlier India's offer to provide USD five million for the millions of victims of the devastating floods that have swept the country. Pak. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the move to accept the assistance has enhanced Pakistan's diplomatic image and asked those opposed to taking aid from India to give reasons for their stand. He had futher said that he would like to ask the critics of Indian aid on what ground we should refuse it. It will be a narrow approach if we refuse aid from India that is what Gilani had briefed to the Press Medias. It is true that the move has been criticized by some politicians. The Pak. Govt.. has accepted the Indian aid offer on the US call as revealed by the Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq, chairman of PML-N party However, Gilani had said: that it would have been a contrast if Pak. Govt. had refused the Indian aid that too at a time when Pak. faced worst ravages of flood. On the one hand, we are stressing on the resumption of dialogue with India and on the other, we refuse its aid. We should come out of this approach and give a strong image to Pakistan .What an unfortunate that India and Israel are the only two countries whose aid workers will not be granted special visas by Pakistan to join relief efforts for the millions of people affected by country's worst floods! Following a suggestion from foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi for easing visa regulations for foreign aid workers, the interior ministry decided to issue three-month "relief work" visas for those coming to Pakistan to join relief
operations. A letter sent by the interior ministry to the foreign office made it clear that this special facility will not be available to Indian and Israeli nationals. What a wrong notion the Pak. is carrying for our country when India is out and out to help Pak. Govt. in this natural calamity and had mind of sending aid workers to expedite proper relief there amongst worst affected people but on refusal their entry Pak. has shown that it has no faith in us that is the most unfortunate!

My comment on Topic: India - Our perennial problem of Hunger as flashed on f.b. on 25.8.2010
.--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bishwanath Singh says: It is a vast subject. One has to go deep into its genesis as why our country can’t be shinning. Let us examine it one by one! The family welfare scheme that includes family planning must be pursued vigorously all over the country by bringing mass awareness amongst people through the means of persuasion. The chances of increasing agricultural land in our country seems to be remote so mechanized co-operative farming be introduced and pursued vigorously with good crop -rotation so that agricultural production could be enhanced to meet needs of people at large. Corruption that is rampant all throughout the country at every stage must be checked in and law-breakers must be severally punished. Extravagancies must be prevented in social functions; dowry system in marriages must be checked in and prevented as far as possible to avoid dowry deaths of newly married brides. The prohibition must be enforced to save lives of many people who die due to over intake of liquor that invites cardiac arrest and kidney failure. Basic infrastructures must be developed in both rural & urban areas. If all these are attended properly, there is no reason that oar country can't shine like glittering star in moonlit night.

A tribute to my loving mother who is no more on this worldly earth by Bishwa Nath Singh as flashed on the f.b on 25.8.2010.
------------------------------------------------------------------------- A mother is a very holy and sacred name taken as pride all over the world. A mother is such a beautiful word that personifies of love, passion, kindness & wisdom .She is the rarest of rare specimen whom all of us adore from core of our heart because of her loving nature. She is living incarnation of the Almighty Goddes...s of Wisdom; Wealth & Power-all virtues combine in one seen in her. She is embodiment of truth, kindness & forgiveness-all visible in her. Even at sick bed, she always cares for welfare of her children more than herself-that is the greatest beauty of a mother. Right from the time that we came in her womb till we are alive, the mother always takes to utmost care of all of us who are her children and equally she loves her grand children and great grand children very fondly.Who can replace mother in this universe? Certainly none-that will be our answer! Let us pay our humble tribute to her who had remained so godly to us that hardly need any description about great qualities of her! A married woman is called m...other when she has given birth to, or raised a child in the role of a parent. Because of the complexity and differences of a mother' social, cultural, and religious definitions and roles, it is challenging to define a mother to suit a universally accepted definition. The masculine equivalent is a father. In the case of a mammal such as a human, a pregnant woman gestates a fertilized ovum. A fetus develops from the viable fertilized ovum or 'embryo'. The woman experiences labor and gives birth. Usually, once the baby is born, the mother produces milk via the lactation process. The mother's breast milk is the source of anti-bodies for the infant's immune system and commonly the sole source of nutrition for the first year or more of the child's life. Mothers have historically fulfilled the primary role in raising children, but since the late 20th century, the role of the father in child care has been given greater prominence and social acceptance in some Western countries. The social role and experience of motherhood varies greatly depending upon location. Commenting on a report that admissions into 5th class in Gurukul schools of Andhra will be made by LOTTERY as a consequence of a diktat by the union HR Minister Kapil Sibal,

COMMENT OF BISHWA NATH SINGH:
One should keep away politics from education otherwise the country as whole is going to be the great looser in future course of time. The enough politics have already been played in this country with educational system and academic life as a result a large number of students are going abroad for their studies and don’t feel like returning to their motherland. In most of rural areas of our country, quacks are practicing and treating patients instead of medical doctor who are unavailable and not willing to practice in rural areas where genuine modern amenities are unavailable. It is common trend in our country that any one who joins as Cabinet Minister whether in Union or State, he/she wants to do something of their own to earn cheap popularity so Kapil Sibbal, legal luminary turned Politician is no exception to it if he introduces lottery system in case of admission in class v in Gurukul schools of Andhra Pradesh . Let us urge both Union & all State Govts. that unless, change is imminent, it should not be brought in large interest of our country otherwise there won’t be any end to it!

Bishwa Nath Singh from Dalmianagar (Bihar),India:
How unfortunate and sad incidence as tourists were made victims and killed on Monday, the 23rd of August 2010 in the Philippines when a sacked police officer seized a tourist bus and opened fire at his hostages before he was killed by police. Six of the dead were Chinese passengers held for more than ten hours inside the air-conditioned bus in a seaside park in Manila city, according to doctors at two hospitals where they were rushed up for treatment.. The Chinese government has also demanded a thorough investigation of how the tragedy was handled. Questions have been raised over how police failed to enter the bus before eight tourists were shot by a rogue policeman. The UK's Foreign Office has now confirmed that two of the survivors are British nationals. The police commander in the Philippine capital of Manila, Leocadio Santiago, has defended the way his force dealt with the hostage-taking. He told local television that it had been correct to let the siege continue until the bus driver escaped and reported that the hijacker had started shooting hostages. Police then assaulted the bus, killing the hijacker, a disgruntled former policeman called Rolando Mendoza. In Hong Kong, a "black" travel warning has been raised, which urges all travel to the Philippines to be cancelled and calls on Hong Kong people in the Philippines to leave as soon as possible. Around Hong Kong, flags are hanging at half-mast. The stock exchange planned a minute's silence for the hijack victims. Anger, disbelief and grief is the mood in Hong Kong following the hostage drama in the Philippines. Members of some of Hong Kong's political parties demonstrated outside the Philippine consulate in the southern Chinese city, expressing their fury at how Manila had handled the violent situation. Several of Hong Kong's daily newspapers changed their mastheads from red to black, the city's flags flew at half-mast and a daily laser spectacular which takes place across high buildings around Hong Kong's iconic harbour was cancelled to show a city in mourning. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange held a minute of silence, as Philippine consular officials expressed concern for the large Filipino population in Hong Kong. Two planes, carrying doctors and counsellors, have been chartered to bring back the survivors of the incident. China was appalled by the murders. The Chinese government demands the Philippine government launch a thorough investigation into the incident and inform the Chinese side of related details as soon as possible," Mr Yang said. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said China had already sent a team to Manila handle the aftermath. China has requested the Philippine side to take pragmatic measures to ensure life and property safety of Chinese nationals in the country," he said .Hong Kong's chief executive, Donald Tsang, said he was disappointed with the handling of the incident, and protests were reported outside the Philippine consulate in Hong Kong. Philippine President Benigno Aquino promised a "thorough investigation" into the incident. Survivors and experts have criticised the police for being indecisive and slow in their handling of the crisis One of the survivors, who identified herself only as Mrs Leung, told reporters as why was there no-one to help us after so many hours. She said her husband had been killed trying to stop the gunman from shooting other passengers. She missed her loving husband. She actually wanted to die with him. But she thought of her children that is what she said with swollen eyes. Let us condole the tragedy and death of all those who lost their precious lives and pray to God to grant eternal peace to their departed soul in heavenly abode and urge the Philippines Govt. to get this incidence thoroughly probed in by an independent and impartial commission and adequately compensate the nearest kith and kin of all those who lost their lives and all seriously injured at earliest!

Today being August 24,2010,we have Raksha Bandhan- a sacred festival that is popular in South –East Asia on which sisters tie knot in form of Rakhi in hands of their brothers and brothers in turn pledge to their sisters to protect them even in all odds. The festival of Raksha Bandhan turned into stark tragedy in Nepal Tuesday as all 14 people aboard a private aircraft carrying tourists were feared to have been killed following a crash near Kathmandu. An eyewitness Gyan Kumar Thokuwa in Shikharpur village where the crash occurred around 7.30 A.M had said the aircraft was in flames when it crash landed near a school, breaking into pieces and scattering bodies and belongings of the passengers.’ The site is difficult to reach due to incessant rain that the site had witnessed last night, Thokuwa told private television station ABC. The villagers were guarding the bodies as rescue teams were held up by bad weather and fog. Passports and other papers were found scattered along with plane parts.’ The flight by domestic airline Agni Air was carrying 11 passengers, including six foreigners, and three crew members.Of the six tourists, one had been preliminarily identified as a Japanese in his mid-20s, four others were from the US and the sixth from Ireland. The three crew members have been identified as Captain Laxmi Prakash Vikram Shah, co-pilot Sophia Singh and air hostess Lucky Sherpa .Three of the five Nepali passengers were identified as Pemba Sherpa, I. Rizal and Om. Police spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma said the aircraft was headed for Lukla in northern Nepal, considered the gateway to Mt Everest. Thousands of travelers fly into Lukla, one hundred forty kilometers North-East of Kathmandu, every year to access the stunning Himalayan range that forms Nepal's Northern Border with Chinese-controlled Tibet .The five hundred fifty meter long sloping airstrip at Lukla perched on a hillside two thousand seven hundred fifty seven meters above sea level is considered one of the most difficult landings in the world. However, bad weather due to a raging monsoon prevented the aircraft from landing at the airport named after Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, forcing it to come back towards Kathmandu. Nepal’s official media said the pilot had reported that the engine generator had failed. On the way to the capital, the aircraft crashed in Makwanpur district, close to Kathmandu valley. Despite the closeness to the capital, lack of motor able roads and inclement weather prevented rescue teams, including an army helicopter carrying doctors, from reaching the crash site for hours. This is the second major air disaster suffered by Nepal in two years. Bad weather, pilot error, difficult terrain, bad local airports and technical failures are held to be the main causes. Most of the crashes occur in monsoon. In 2008, a domestic airline crashed in the Everest region, killing twenty four people, including twelve German tourists, a Nepali minister and his wife and noted conservationists. The crash comes at a time Nepal is celebrating the entry of a Nepali airline to Bhutan, the first international airline to start flights to the Buddhist kingdom. It also clouds efforts to celebrate 2011 as tourism year targeted to bring one million tourists. Though, the chances of any survival in this latest ill-fated tragedy seems to be very remote. Had there been any, the news must have flashed by that eye-witness of the tragedy and villagers guarding the ill-fated site though the official announcement is awaited! Let us all join to condole passing away of all those who lost their lives in this ill-fated crash and convey our heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families and urge the Nepal Govt. to provide suitable compensation to the nearest kith and kin of all those who lost their lives and their soul rushed to heavenly abode to rest in peace!

Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has forcefully defended his order to remove all private security contractors from his country by the end of the year, saying that they were running a parallel security structure in the country that was looting and stealing national wealth from the Afghan people.Mr. Karzai has further clarified that the foreign embassies, aid organizations and diplomats traveling around the country would still be allowed to hire private guards. But we will definitely not allow them to be on the roads, in the bazaars, in the streets, on the highways. Karzai has further clarified that his Govt. will not allow them to provide protection to supply lines. That is the job of the Afghan Govt. and the Afghan police.American diplomats, generals and lawmakers have expressed support for the goal of phasing out the tens of thousands of private security contractors, domestic and foreign, who operate in Afghanistan. More than 26,000 private guards from 50 companies work for the United States government alone. But these officials say that the Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s tim-table is too ambitious and that Afghanistan’s fledgling security services will be unable to fill the gap capably in just four months. Mr. Karzai has dismissed that criticism very forcefully recently laying emphasis that the widespread reliance on private security contractors was stunting the growth of Afghan’s security forces, and siphoning off its best recruits with offers of higher wages. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has further clarified that their presence is preventing the growth and the development of the Afghan security forces, especially the police force. It is a million dollar question that why an Afghan young man would come to the police if he can get a job in a security firm, have a lot of emoluments and that too without any discipline. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a leading Republican on the Armed Services Committee who has just returned from Afghanistan, called on Mr. Karzai to fulfill his commitments to improve security, fight corruption and combat the growing Taliban militancy. He has got to be all in to win. Graham further said that US Govt. is not at war with the insurgency. They need to change their laws to allow us to detain people who are security threats. Afghan President Hamid Karzai needs to fight corruption. Graham put Mr. Karzai in prominence that he is capable of doing that, but he is certainly going to make sure from Congress’s point of view that we have benchmarks and measurements. It’s now time to put him to the test. Karzai had said that it is now time to put ourselves to the test because we’re running out of time here at home. Karzai also forcefully defended his order to remove all private security contractors from Afghanistan by the end of the year, saying that they were running a parallel security structure in the country that was looting and stealing from the Afghan people. How sad is that four American service members were killed in fighting in eastern and southern Afghanistan very recently and a former guerrilla leader who battled the Soviets decades ago was killed by a roadside bomb in the country’s north! Three of the Americans died in insurgent attacks very recently and one was killed by a homemade bomb that is what NATO had said. Let us hope that Afghan President Hamid Karzai will regain lost glory of his country by providing a very clean and honest Govt. in Afghanistan!

Pakistan has badly suffered with worst floods in decades that have toppled villages and bridges, ripped apart roads, killed at least 1,600 people, made more than four million homeless and raised concerns that militants will exploit the misery and chaos .Saleh Farooqui, director general of the disaster management authority in southern Sindh province of Pak.has revealed floods have hit at least four districts, including urban areas, forcing about 200,000 people to flee for higher ground in the last 24 hours. The Pak.officials expect the floodwaters will recede nationwide in the next few days as the last river torrents empty into the Arabian Sea, But when that happens, millions of Pakistanis will almost certainly want the government, which was already constrained by a fragile economy before the flood, to quickly come up with homes and compensation for the loss of livestock and crops. The Pak.Govt. has been accused of moving too slowly and Islamist charities, some with suspected links to militant groups, have moved rapidly to provide relief to Pakistanis, already frustrated with their leaders' track record on the economy, security, poverty and by chronic power shortages. Pakistan has said it would freeze some development projects in order to divert resources to flood relief and reconstruction. People have also cut through dikes and roads hoping to divert the water away from their homes. Half a million people are living in about 5,000 schools in flood-hit areas of Pakistan where poor hygiene and sanitation, along with cramped quarters and the stifling heat, provide fertile ground for potentially fatal diseases such as cholera. The United Nations has warned that up to 3.5 million children could be in danger of contracting deadly diseases carried through contaminated water and insects. The United States, eager to ensure stability in a frontline state in the fight against militancy, has led a chorus of aid pledges and provided helicopters for rescue operations . The International Monetary Fund & EU said they would review shortly. We are happy to learn that Pakistan has agreed to accept USD 5 million Indian aid for flood victims following prod by the US, has claimed that the move has enhanced its diplomatic image since refusal would have gone against its insistence on resumption of dialogue. Pakistan recently accepted India's offer to provide USD 5 million for the millions of victims of the devastating floods that have swept the country. About 150,000 Pakistanis were forced to move to higher ground as floodwaters from a freshly swollen Indus River submerged dozens more towns and villages in the south U.N. humanitarian operations spokesman Maurizio Giuliano said tents and plastic sheets had been delivered to one million people and now more were on the way for another 2.4 million..There are already over 38,000 cases of acute diarrhoea. A major disease breakout would cause another crisis and impose new demands on already stretched humanitarian workers. NATO said recently that it would provide ships and aircraft to transport aid to Pakistan, a day after Islamabad warned that militants were trying to exploit the disaster. The U.N. has issued an appeal for $459 million of aid to help Pakistan, of which Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said about 60 percent had been pledged. The EU foreign affairs chief will also urge countries next month to support trade breaks for Pakistan as worries grow about the impact of the floods on the stability of a nation fighting its own battle
against Islamists. Pak. is receiving good response from other countries of the world. Let us hope that funds received there will be properly utilized & monitored!

After dilly-dallying for several days, Pakistan recently accepted India's offer to provide USD 5 million for the millions of victims of the devastating floods that have swept the country. Pak.Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the move to accept the assistance has enhanced Pakistan's diplomatic image and asked those opposed to taking aid from India to give reasons for their stand. We should come out of this approach and give a strong image to Pakistan. He said he was chairing a high-level meeting
when he was informed about India's offer to provide aid. He had told his Foreign Minister to thank his Indian counterpart for the aid.. Gilani noted that both Pakistanis and Indians had collected funds for the flood-affected people. Gillani had further said that the international community trusted Pak and that is why such huge aid is pouring in every now and then Let us hope that aids reaching Pak. will be properly utilized !

Bishwa Nath Singh,Dalmianagar (Bihar),India says:

Let us understand factual position of Pakistan administered Kashmir that refers to a disputed region between Pakistan and India in South Asia! It borders the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the west, the Wakhan Corridor of Afghanistan to the north west, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of People's Republic of China to the north and Indian-administered Kashmir, to the east.A part of this area of the former princely state of Kashmir, the trans-Karakoram tract was ceded to China and the remaining area was amalgamated into two regions: Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Both nations had a war in 1947 over the former kingdom. India refers to this region as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (or PoK). Most international agencies such as the United Nations, MSF and the Red Cross refer to this region as Pakistan administered Kashmir. The Pakistan Declaration of 1933 had envisioned the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir as one of the "five Northern units of India" that were to form the new nation of Pakistan, on the basis of its Muslim majority. India has a different perspective on this interpretation Hari Singh, King of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir agreed to Governor-General Mountbatten's suggestion to sign the Instrument of Accession India demanded accession in return for assistance. After accession, India recovered part of the territory of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir east of the present Line of Control from the tribal invaders. India claimed that the whole territory of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir had become Indian territory (India's official posture) due to the accession, it claims the whole region including Pakistan controlled Kashmir territory as its own. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India asked the UN to intervene. The United Nations passed the United Nations Security Council Resolution 47 asking Pakistan to withdraw all its forces from Kashmir. This was to be followed by a plebiscite to determine the wishes of people of the entire state of Kashmir. However the required withdrawal never happened. The area which remained under the control of Pakistan is called Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The whole area of Pakistan-administered Kashmir was administered as it was before independence. Additionally, a part of Hunza-Gilgit called Raskam and the Shaksgam Valley of Baltistan region, ceded by Pakistan to the People's Republic of China in 1963 pending settlement of the dispute over Kashmir. This ceded area is also known as the Trans-Karakoram Tract.Pakistan-administered Kashmir is administratively divided into two parts: (a)Azad Kashmir;(b)Gilgit-Baltistan: Gilgit was an agency leased by the Maharaja to British Government. Baltistan was a western district of Ladakh province which was annexed by Pak. in 1948.The area is part of the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region. Pakistan administered Kashmir does not include Aksai Chin, the area of the former Princely state of Kashmir and Jammu that is under Chinese control since 1962.The cease-fire line that separates Jammu and Kashmir from the Aksai Chin is known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC). It was the most properfor Govt. of India to issue notice to Internet Search giant Google for depicting very wrongly Pak. occupied Kashmir as part of Pak. As per Our country’s Information Technology Act, the Google has been asked to correct it immidiately as conveyed by Minister of State OF Union Govt. of India for Telcom & IT . Last year,it was very unfortunate that Google's satellite maps had showed parts of Arunachal Pradesh appear as they were part of China. The former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam had expressed concern over the availability of high-resolution pictures of sensitive locations in India. Google subsequently agreed to censor such sites. Let us hope that Google will not repeat such blunders in future to add miseries of people living there!

Pakistan suffered lot due to worst floods and causalities were more than what Pak. had experienced at the time of partition as proclaimed by Pak. Prime Minister a few days ago. Though, it was prerogative of Pak. President whether his visit to abroad was more important than remaining in his country at a time when the nation was facing serious ravaged due to intense flood and his presence was badly needed when the nation required his presence the most to monitor flood relief measures. Releasing the list of five such people, the prestigious 'Foreign Policy' magazine said Asif Ali Zardari was touring in Europe when millions of people had been affected by the devastating floods and hundreds others hit by political violence in his country. In all humility, it was expected from a Statesman like him to have cancelled his foreign trip and could have remained available in his country to monitor relief measures. The Pak. President's trip wasn't all fun and games as revealed by his aids. At a public speech during one of Zardari's final stops in Britain, a sixty year-old British-Pakistani protester hurled his shoes at the President in light of his decision not to return home. This was the only means of protest available in front of that demonstrator at that time that was quoted by him as saying after he was released by the police. This very action of demonstrator must be condemned by all as it was not a gentleman’s way to protest. If at all, there were any grievances, the demonstrator would have preferred to display a play card instead of hurling abuses or shoes. Pak. President Asif Ali Zardari's absence continued on August 18, 2010 with a visit to the Black Sea resort at Sochi in Russia, where he met his Russian, Afghan, and Tajik counterparts for a security summit. It is said that Asif Ali Zardari,Pak. President did not stay for lunch and left quickly after the meeting. Among other leaders part of the unique list are Yuri Luzhkov, Mayor of Moscow, who was receiving physical therapy in the Austrian Alps while his city was engulfed with wildfires; and Wyclef Jean, a Hip-hop artist-turned Haitian presidential candidate who was hiding at the time of reconstruction of the disaster-stricken country. BP CEO Tony Hayward, who was on a yacht off the Isle of Wight during the oil spill in the Gulf; and Tony Woodley, General Secretary of Unite, Britain's largest labor union, who during the British Airways strikes was on a Mediterranean island villa who figured prominently in the list. It is of common belief that while Rome was burning, Nero was playing fluit. This practice has to be stopped once for all. One must choose priority to be accomplished, if he/she wants to be successful in his/her life. Had Pak. President cancelled his foreign trip and attended his duties as the President of his country in monitoring flood relief measures and gone for aerial survey on priority basis that might have added feather to his cap! Let us hope that all heads of the Govt. will act as per priority that is required of them!

It is high time now for all global Government to enforce blanket ban on use of drugs, opium and other alcoholic products that cause enormous harms to people of all age-group. The mass awareness is essential amongst masses on its bad effects that cause when people go for them. The drug users loose their senses and mental equilibrium and ultimately loose their life, if not prevented and checked at right time. It is a social menace that must be overcome. The prohibition of drugs through sumptuary legislation or religious law is a common means of attempting to prevent drug use. Prohibition of drugs has existed at various levels of government or other authority from the Middle Ages to the present. While most drugs are legal to possess, many governments regulate the manufacture, distribution, marketing, and sale of some drugs, for instance through a prescription system. Only certain drugs are banned with a "blanket prohibition" against all use. However, a continuing problem remains in effect, as the prohibited drugs continue to be available through illegal trade, see illegal drug trade, also known as the Black Market. The most widely banned substances include psychoactive drugs, although blanket prohibition also extends to some steroids and other drugs. Many governments do not criminalize the possession of a limited quantity of certain drugs for personal use, while still prohibiting their sale or manufacture, or possession in large quantities. Some laws set a specific volume of a particular drug, above which is considered ipso jure to be evidence of trafficking or sale of the drug.Islamic countries mostly prohibit the use of alcohol. Many non-Islamic governments levy a sin tax on alcohol and tobacco products, and restrict alcohol and tobacco from sales or gifts to minors. Other common restrictions include bans on outdoor drinking and indoor smoking. The United States (1920–1933), Finland (1919–1932), Norway (1916–1927), Canada, Iceland (1915–1922) and the USSR (1914–1925) had alcohol prohibition .India had also brought prohibition while Morarji Desai was the Prime Minister of India during 1977 to 1979.. Had the strict law been globally enforced, the life of poor beautiful lady Amy-Rose Allen and many others who loose their precious life every now and then could have been very well saved. Had the Newzyland Government adopted Law Commission recommendations including lowering drink-driving limits, lifting the purchasing age to twenty and limiting liquor promotion and advertising could have saved the life of poor beauty piquant lady and others! Similar legislation need to be enacted and enforced globally to prevent such horrible menace. The present drug control efforts utilize several techniques in the attempt to achieve their goal of eliminating illegal drug use:(1) The market for drugs must be disrupted. (2)Prevention efforts that rely on community activism, public information campaigns to educate the public on the potential dangers of drug use.(3)Law-enforcement efforts against elements of the supply chain, through surveillance and undercover work.(4)Providing effective and targeted substance abuse treatment to dependent users. Let us all join to open a tirade for it so that many lives lost & family life ruined could be saved! I am happy to note that such agitations were intensified in New Zealand. Let there be mass awareness for it as how best to overcome this dreadful menace!

With best compliments,

Ban Ki-moon, UN chief on the 15th of August 2010 after visiting flood ravaged areas in Pakistan has expressed his shock and concern over pitiable conditions of flood affected areas of Pakistan urged the world to quicken aid for up to twenty million people hit by Pakistan’s worst humanitarian crisis. The United Nations has appealed for four hundred sixty million dollars to deal with the immediate aftermath of the floods but has warned that billions will be required in the long term with villages, businesses, crops and infrastructure wiped out. Pak. Govt. has appealed to the international community to help it cope with the challenges of a crisis that Pak.Prime Minister has compared to the 1947 partition of the sub-continent. Ban had asserted that He was here also to urge the world community to speed up their assistance to the Pakistani people that he had told reporters. He said he would report back to the UN General Assembly first thing this week and he will try to mobilize all necessary assistance and remember that the whole world is behind the people of Pakistan in this time of natural calamities Ban Ki-moon who after holding discussion with Pak. President & Pak. Prime Minister had flown over devastated areas in Punjab, agriculturally enrich areas of Pakistan and had met survivors at a relief camp in Muzaffargarh, where people are now returning after the flood danger passed what local officials had said to him. Around a quarter of the country appears to have been affected by the flooding, officials estimate. Some of the worst-hit areas are in the volatile northwest, where Taleban militants have been locked in fighting with Pakistani troops, and the wealthiest and agriculturally most important areas of Punjab and Sindh. Fresh foods hit the southwestern province of Baluchistan overnight, devastating hundreds of villages and causing tens of thousands to flee that was disclosed by the commissioner in the town of Jaffarabad. He had said that the situation is grim. Pakistan having population of 167 million is on the front line of the US-led fight against Al Qaeda and Western governments have traced overseas terror plots back to Taleban and Al Qaeda camps in the lawless tribal mountains. Pak..Premier had said that the floods affected some twenty million people, destroyed standing crops and food storages worth billions of dollars, causing colossal loss to national economy. Outbreak of epidemics in the flood-hit areas is a serious threat that can further compound the already grave situation, The United Nations estimates that fourteen million have been affected and that one thousand six hundred people have died whereas the Pak. Govt. in Islamabad has confirmed one thousand three hundred eighty four deaths. In the south, officials called on the city of Jacobabad to evacuate, saying ninety percent of residents had already fled as waters reached its outskirts, although the meteorological service expects the floods to ease from the 16th of August 2010.Jacobabad had presented a deserted look with scores of vehicles stranded on the flooded main road from the south as revealed by medias personnel. The United Nations has confirmed the country’s first cholera case in Mingora, in the northwestern district of Swat, and said at least thirty six thousand people were reportedly suffering from acute diarrhea. Charities said relief for those affected by the worst natural disaster in Pakistan’s history was lagging far behind what was needed. Humanitarian agencies were monitoring the risk of ‘a second wave of deaths induced by the floods in the shape of water-borne diseases. It is every likelihood that on appeal of Ban Ki-moon the international aids are bound to rush in Pak. but the difficulty is that the fund thus reached must be properly utilized We can express our deep sympathy with Pak. People on this hour of natural calamities.

India's Independence Day is celebrated on the15 August to commemorate its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation on that day in 1947 The day is a national holiday in India. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attendance. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievements of his government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle. U.S. also recognizes this day as India Day. The Prime Minister of India hoists the Indian flag on the ramparts of the historical site, Red Fort, Delhi, on August 15. The15th of August has been declared as a national holiday in India by Union Govt. of India .All Government Offices are kept neat & clean and lit up during night as mark of its celebration. The National Flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs take place in all the state capitals. In the cities around the country the national flag is hoisted by politicians in their constituencies. In various private organizations the flag hoisting is carried out by a senior official of that organization .All over the country, flags are given out to citizens who wear them proudly to show their patriotism towards India. Schools and colleges around the country organize flag hoisting ceremonies and various cultural events within their premises, where younger children in costume do impersonations of their favorite characters of the Independence era. They also have a parade. Families and friends get together for lunch or dinner, or for an outing. Housing colonies, cultural centers, clubs and societies hold entertainment programs and competitions, usually based on the Independence Day theme. Most national and regional television channels screen old and new film classics with patriotic themes on Independence Day. Its a national festival that is celebrated by every Indian irrespective of his/her religion. Mahatma Gandhi had employed non-cooperation, non-violence and peaceful resistance as his "weapons" in the struggle against the British Raj. In Punjab, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of civilians by British troops (also known as the Amritsar Massacre) caused deep trauma to the nation, leading to increased public anger and acts of violence. Gandhi criticised both the actions of the British Raj and the retaliatory violence of Indians. He authored the resolution offering condolences to British civilian victims and condemning the riots which, after initial opposition in the party, was accepted following Gandhi's emotional speech advocating his principle that all violence was evil and could not be justified. But it was after the massacre and subsequent violence that Gandhi's mind focused upon obtaining complete self-government and control of all Indian government institutions, maturing soon into Swaraj or complete individual, spiritual, political independence .Many had laid their lives during India’s independence struggle movement. US President has very rightly said that India & Indians as whole have been an inspiration and beacon of hope for people across the globe .Let us hope that we will strive hard to remain so for ever and prove our worthiness as aren’t follower of Gandhi an doctrine of truth &, non-violence in all walks of our lives!

Comments:Bishwanath Singh:- Emperor Shah Jahan during the Mughal empire's period of greatest prosperity in 1631, was grief-stricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their fourteenth child, Gauhara Begum. Construction of the Taj Mahal began i...n 1632, one year after her death. The court chronicles of Shah Jahan's grief illustrate the love story traditionally held as an inspiration for Taj Mahal. The principal mausoleum was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later .Taj Mahal is the first wonder of the world where over several thousand of tourists visit every day to have glimpse of it.

A glimpse of Bhagwat Gita by Bishwa Nath Singh as flashed on the f.b on 11.8.2010

Bishwanath Singh: Let us have a glimpse of Bhagwat Gita!It is known as Gita too that is a sacred Hindu scripture, considered among the most important texts in the history of literature and philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita comprises roughly 700 verses, and is a part of the Mahabharata. The content of the Gita is the conversation between Lord...... Krishna and Arjuna taking place on the battlefield before the start of the Kurukshetra war. Responding to Arjuna's confusion and moral dilemma about fighting his own cousins, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna his duties as a warrior and prince and elaborates on different Yogic and Vedantic philosophies, with examples and analogies. This has led to the Gita often being described as a concise guide to Hindu theology and also as a practical, self-contained guide to life. During the discourse, Lord Krishna reveals His identity as the Supreme Being Himself (Svayam Bhagavan), blessing Arjuna with an awe-inspiring vision of His divine universal form. The direct audience to Lord Krishna’s discourse of the Bhagawata Gita are said to be Arjuna (addressee), Sanjay (using Divya Drishti gifted by Rishi Veda Vyasa) and Lord Hanuman (perched atop Arjuna’s chariot) and Barbarika, son of Ghatotghaj who also witnessed the complete eighteen days of action at Kurukhsetra. The Gita consists of eighteen chapters in total. They are as follows(1)Arjuna requests Krishna to move his chariot between the two armies. When Arjuna sees his relatives on the opposing army side of the Kurus, he loses morale and decides not to fight.(2)After asking Krishna for help, Arjuna is instructed that only the body may be killed as he was worried if it would become a sin to kill people (including his gurus and relatives), while the eternal self is immortal. Krishna appeals to Arjuna that, as a warrior, he has a duty to uphold the path of dharma through warfare.(3)Arjuna asks why he should engage in fighting if knowledge is more important than action. Krishna stresses to Arjuna that performing his duties for the greater good, but without attachment to results, is the appropriate course of action.(4)Krishna reveals that he has lived through many births, always teaching Yoga for the protection of the pious and the destruction of the impious and stresses the importance of accepting a guru.(5)Arjuna asks Krishna if it is better to forgo action or to act. Krishna answers that both ways may be beneficent, but that acting in Karma Yoga is superior.(6)Krishna describes the correct posture for meditation and the process of how to achieve Samādhi.(7)Krishna teaches the path of knowledge (Jnana Yoga).(8)Krishna defines the terms brahman, adhyatma, karma, atman, adhibhuta and adhidaiva and explains how one can remember him at the time of death and attain his supreme abode.(9)Krishna explains panentheism, "all beings are in me" as a way of remembering him in all circumstances.(10)Krishna describes how he is the ultimate source of all material and spiritual worlds. Arjuna accepts Krishna as the Supreme Being, quoting great sages who have also done so.(11)On Arjuna's request, Krishna displays his "universal form" (Viśvarūpa), a theophany of a being facing every way and emitting the radiance of a thousand suns, containing all other beings and material in existence.(12)Krishna describes the process of devotional service (Bhakti Yoga).(13)Krishna describes nature (prakrti), the enjoyer (purusha) and consciousness.(14)Krishna explains the three modes (gunas) of material nature.(15)Krishna describes a symbolic tree (representing material existence), its roots in the heavens and its foliage on earth. Krishna explains that this tree should be felled with the "axe of detachment", after which one can go beyond to his supreme abode.(16)Krishna tells of the human traits of the divine and the demonic natures. He counsels that to attain the supreme destination one must give up lust, anger and greed, discern between right and wrong action by evidence from scripture and thus act rightly.(17)Krishna tells of three divisions of faith and the thoughts, deeds and even eating habits corresponding to the three gunas.&(18)In conclusion, Krishna asks Arjuna to abandon all forms of dharma and simply surrender unto him. He describes this as the ultimate perfection of life. The greatScholar Dr. Radhakrishnan had said that the verse 11.55 is "the essence of bhakti" and the "substance of the whole teaching of the Gita".-He who does work for Me, he who looks upon Me as his goal, he who worships Me, free from attachment, who is free from enmity to all creatures, he goes to Me, O Pandava!.

My personal views on extravagancy as flashed on f.b .on 11.8.2010

Bishwanath Singh :One must avoid extravagancy at all costs in any circumstances and lead a very simple & austere life. The inter-cast ,inter-religion – all sort of love marriages must be encouraged to overcome social evil of dowry and in any festivity, one must follow the thumb rule of the Guest Control Act by not having more guests... than what prescribed in the said law if they wish to lead a very happy & blissful life .

My pesonal views on Reservation Policy being pursued by our Union Govt.in India:

My pesonal views on Reservation Policy being pursued by our Union Govt.in India as flashed on f.b of 11.8.2010.

Bishwanath Singh :I had already acquainted my views against Reservation Policy of our Govt. to all of my friends and well-wishers some time earlier. To me, the way reservation have been promulgated in our country every now and then during over sixty two ...years after we got independence from British Colonial rules is nothing but an eye-wash just to swallow the vote banks of Political parties in power both either at centre or in State or in both and surprisingly that may lead to our country to a class war which can't be ruled out. Instead of had intention of Political Parties in power been very pious & clear they could have gone for certain percentage of reservation all over the country on economic condition of people for certain duration of time. But, it appears to be a myth. So long, they won't have strong political will to scrap it and start a fresh on the basis of economic condition of people only for certain duration, the hide & seek game of politics over reservation issue will go on that will neither be in the best interest of the nation nor of their own in long run when people will rise against their misdeeds on pursuing wrong policies for such a long period. Though, many may differ with my views but it is a hard core fact that people as whole may realize one day in due course of time when they will find rich become richer and poor become poorer as compared to others.

One must learn to show love & respect to old people.

Bishwanath Singh: I don't have my Parents now on this worldly earth but I owe much to them as they were my mentors with full of passion, kindness & wisdom known for their integrity, love and good nature. I have seen ooze of old people who are deserted by their own children and left on the mercy of the Almighty God to spend nights shivering with the cold in outskirt of their house. Such people require our kind attention for their livelihood and roof on their heads to protect them from cold, rain and intense heat. There are many voluntary organizations pleading for their cause. Let us hope that they will strive hard to rehabilitate such old people on priority basis with care and honesty and earn good name and fame for good act of their benevolence!

Death and its symptoms by Bishwa Nath Singh

Bishwanath Singh: We are fully aware that the death is inevitable to every body that comes on this worldly earth. The death is when life ends. We often go for condoling death of our nearest and dearest one knowing well that we may not see their physical body again and will miss them for ever. Many reminisces come one by one just like re...el of a movie There are occasion that at times we repent for our unpalatable deeds and later rejoice for our good deeds. It is always advocated to lead a blissful & godly life by carrying out good deeds in our life. It has also been said that the soul never dies and keep on shifting their refuse from one abode to another as per rule of transformation. I don’ know whether it is a reality or consolation to me but certainly, I take it as reality as gospel truth as per “Bhagwat Gita”-holy book where Lord Krishna had explained it in detail to warrior Lord Arjuna in the battle field several thousands years ago. Let us derive lesson from it and be good & do good in our life! When consciousness ceases, a living organism can be said to have died. Signs of death or strong indications that a person is no longer alive are felt when (a) The ceasing of breathing (b) The body no longer metabolizes(c) No pulse is found (d) The paleness which happens in the fifteen minutes to two hours after death (e) The settling of the blood in the lower dependent portion of the body is one of major sign (f) The reduction in body temperature following death. This is generally a steady decline until matching ambient temperature (g) the limbs of the corpse become stiff and difficult to move or manipulate & (h) the decomposition begins as the reduction into simpler forms of matter, accompanied by a strong, unpleasant odor.

The last rite of my mother India Singh was performed at Marankalka Ghat in the afternoon of 7,8,2010 at Varanasi on the bank of the Ganges.

As per schedule. the funeral procession of my most loving mother Inira Singh commenced at 8:00A.M. an hour late from my house on Saturday, the 7th of August 2010 reached finally at “Marnkalika Ghat” of Kashi(now known as Varanasi) at 1:00 PM the same day where her dead body was consigned to flames as per our religious rites and her last rite was performed watched by over hundred of mourners spread from far & wide.
