It’s time to remember very fondly to all those who are struggling... hard to save Japan from another atrophy due to the leakage of gas. Japan as whole has already suffered much due to earthquake and Tsunami that caused havoc on Friday, the 11th of March 2011.The losses incurred in Japan is estimated to be more than the world war-two. Over ten thousand people have already lost their lives and many are traceless and severely injured in Japan. Let us pray to God to grant eternal peace to all those who have lost their precious lives there in the recent past and well-being of all those who are living in Japan!

Bishwa Nath Singh :
It's emblem of Bharat Ratna which is the Republic of India's highest civilian award, awarded for the highest degrees of national service that includes artistic, literary, and scientific achievements, as well as recognition of public servi...ce of the highest order.Whether it is the field of geographical expansion, art & entertainment, science & technology, literature, politics, statesmanship or games and sports, these individuals have created history by their work.Great explorers like Vasco Da Gama and Columbus discovered new lands while Alexander- the Great almost conquered the whole world. Similarly, geniuses like Aristotle, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Albert Einstein expanded the horizon of knowledge by bringing to light new thoughts and inventions. We have had similar great talents in the field of art & entertainment and other fields in India, who have amused us all with their extra-ordinary talent.India has produced a legacy of imminent personalities since times immemorial. I am afrid that hardly there is enough space to measure their sacrifices. However, we must identify those people who have made our country proud by excelling in their own fields and bringing us international recognition.Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian honour given for exceptional service towards advancement of Art, Literature and Science, and in recognition of Public Service of the highest order by our grateful motherland. The original specifications for the award called for a circular gold medal, 35 mm in diameter, with the sun and the Hindi legend "Bharat Ratna" above and a floral wreath below. The reverse was to carry the state emblem and motto. It was to be worn around the neck from a white ribbon. This design was altered after a year. The provision of Bharat Ratna was introduced in 1954. The first ever Indian to receive this award was the famous scientist, Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. Since then, many dignitaries, each one of them in varied aspects of their career has received this coveted award. Sofar, forty one people had received this award out of which eleven were honored posthmuosly. In fact, our former President, Shri A. P. J Abdul Kalam is also a recipient of this esteemed honour in 1997 There is no written provision that Bharat Ratna should be awarded to Indian citizens only. The award has been awarded to a naturalized Indian citizen, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, better known as Mother Teresa (1980) and to two non-Indians – Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Nelson Mandela (1990). It is also not mandatory that Bharat Ratna be awarded every year. The last time this award was given was in 2008, to Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi. M. S. Subbulakshmi (1998) was the first musician ever to be awarded Bharat ratna followed by Lata Mangeshkar, play Back Singer in the year 2001. and PanditBhimshen Joshi, Hindustani Classical Singer in 1998.A famous Sitar Player Ravi Shankar was awared Bharat Ratna in 1999 wheras Bismillah Khan, Hindustani classical shehnai player in 2001.Noble laureate and a great economist Amartya Sen in 1999.The award was started from the regime of Dr. Rajendra Prasad ,the first President of India. It is irony of fate that he had received this award in 1962 wheras the second President of India had received this honor in 1954 along with Chakravart Rajgopalachari, the last Governor General of India being Independence Activist, Noble laureate C.V.Raman,a great Physicist,I have tried my best to present their life history with a sole intention to make aware about them to new generation and people living abroad with hope that they will try their best to emulate their good qualities in their life so that they could be also person of immenence in near future.I hope, you must have kiked and gone through them to enrich your knowledge and refresh your memories.Let us join to pay our very rich tribute to all of them who have been recipient of the country’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna- a great honor indeed and pay our humble obeisance to their lotus feet!

Bishwa Nath Singh :
It is my thought for the day that I would like to share wth every body. His Holiness Satya Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi whose picture has been displayed above was said to be born on September 28, 1838 who later proved himself to be as an In...dian Guru, Yogi, and Fakir who is regarded by his Hindu and Muslim devotees as a saint. Hindu devotees considered him as an incarnation of Lord Shiva or Dattatreya. Many devotees believe that he was a Sadguru, an enlightened Sufi Pir or a Qutub who had become well-known figure in many parts of the world, but especially in India, where he is much revered. In the beginning of eighteenth century a young bearded man with sparkling eyes took shelter in a mosque, in Shirdi Village in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra State in India, when he was about sixteen years old. It is generally accepted that Sai Baba stayed in Shirdi for three years, disappeared for a year, and returned permanently around 1858, which suggests a birth year of 1838 who later on became popular as Shri Sai Baba. Nobody knew from where this stranger had come to Shirdi who hardly spoke a word and stayed there. Soon after that the curious villagers started offering food to the man, but he never asked anything from them. Sometimes he shared his food with the animals. Soon the young fakir, as he was started to be addressed, started expressing his view points with few elderly villagers. His simple language of expression and his special power of solving the problems of poor needy and destitute soon made this less known fakir, known as Shri Sai Baba. As the days passed, devotees started streaming into Shirdi in large numbers. The village was fast becoming a centre of pilgrimage. As gifts and presentations flowed in, the pomp and ceremony of Sai worship were evolving. Everyday Sai Baba would be a pauper having distributed all among the needy and the poor. But Sai Baba’s life of a Fakir remained calm, undisturbed, unaltered and therein is the saint’s Spiritual glory. People also later on realized that this “Baba” was no ordinary person but a person with extraordinary godly powers. Such powers are not known or present in normal human beings. Baba preached his principle of love and faith in humanity to all his disciples. He always felt anguished over the fact that all those who came to him were more for their own personal problems and not for attaining the ultimate goal of reaching God which he felt could be attained only by true servicing of humanity. He strongly believed in uniformity of religion and he never distinguished anyone on the basis of caste, creed or religion.Let us join to pay our humble obeisance to His lotus feet and seek His bliss for well-being of all living-being of this universe irrespective of their care, colour, faith, religion and nationality!Let us offer our Gulal (made of dried scented flowers red in color) to His lotus feet and seek His bliss for well-being of all living -being of this globe on the eve of Holi-a festival of colours!

Bishwa Nath Singh Bhagavad Gita", is the most important and cream of all scriptural texts for Sanatan Dharma. Aa per this holy book, true religion is that which is inherent in the soul. It can not be changed, and it is universally the same for all living ent...ities. The external faiths are material reflections of inherent spiritual quality of the soul. We must rise above the material bodily designations and realize our true identity as a spirit soul, part and parcel of God. It is more important for understanding the philosophy of Hinduism The Bhagavad Gita, written thousands of years ago, enlightens us on all managerial techniques leading us towards a harmonious and blissful state of affairs in place of the conflict, tensions, poor productivity, absence of motivation and so on, common in most of Indian enterprises today – and probably in enterprises in many other countries. The modern western management concepts of vision, leadership, motivation, excellence in work, achieving goals, giving work meaning, decision making and planning, are all discussed in the Bhagavad Gita. There is one major difference. While Western management thought too often deals with problems at material, external and peripheral levels, the Bhagavad Gita tackles the issues from the grass roots level of human thinking. Once the basic thinking of man is improved, it will automatically enhance the quality of his actions and their results. The Bhagavad Gita, which is commonly referred to as The Gita is one of the most important Hindu scriptures. It is honored as a sacred scripture of Hinduism and considered as one of the most important religious classics of the world. Comprising of Seven hundred verses ,Bhagavad Gita, is a part of the Mahabharata. Spoken by Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead to his intimate disciple Warrior Prince Arjuna, the Gita's seven hundred concise verses provide a definitive guide to the science of self realization. Lord Krishna the teacher of the Bhagavad Gita, is regarded by the Hindus as the supreme manifestation of the Lord Himself, and is referred to within as God —the divine one. Let us resolve to go through Bhagwat Gita daily and follow its teachings in our daily life to make our worldly life godly and blissful!See More

Wherever one will visit to any part of India during this period of time, he/she is bound feel tinge of Holi celebration. It begins right from a week earlier than the actual date of Holi that falls on the 20th of March 2011 during this calendar year. A new annual calendar for Hindu begins after Holi is over .Let us examine legend behind Holi celebration in India!

Bishwa Nath Singh :
Holi- the festival of colors is one of the most important and the oldest festival in India that falls on March 20,2011 has started celebrated with gaiety and fervor from a week earlier. The depictions of the festival are visible in n...umerous Hindu religious scriptures and sculpture on walls of old temples and caves. There are paintings, showcasing the Holi celebration of Lord Krishna and Radha. Whatever the scene and the theme, colors and mythology have always been an important part of these Holi depictions. There are several legends on Holi which find mentions in Hindu mythology. Holi is regarded to be the opening festival of the Hindu calendar. The famous stories or sagas related to this festival are stated below: (1) Legend of Radha-Krishna: Lord Krishna, being the mischievous child of Yashuda, was a prankster and was also the creator of many legends for himself. He once asked his mother - why is Radha fair and I am Dark? Mother Yashuda replied to him saying – If you are so much jealous of Radha’s color than go and put dark colors on her and she will also turn dark as you so. Lord Krishna went ahead and did the same. Since then each lover usually puts color on his/her beloved to pay homage to Lord Krishna.(2) Legend on Pootana: When the female demoness called Pootana tried to kill boy Krishna, by giving him her poisoned nipples to suckle. The miracle boy Krishna is said to have sucked her nipples so intensely that he drained the demo ness of her life. Hence, the biggest celebration of Holi takes place at Mathura where this incident happened with Krishna. After the death of demo ness Pootana, people of Mathura till date celebrates this festival in the evening by lighting bourn fire. (3)Legends of king Hiranyakashyapu: Hiranyakashyapu was the strongest demon of his times; he was considered to be the winner of all God’s whomsoever he fought with became a loser at the end of the battle. So he ordered everybody that everybody should obey him and worship him instead of Almighty. He in his family had one sister named Hollika and one son named Pralhad, who was a great devotee of Lord Naarayana. However, Pralhad had disobeyed his father’s order of treating Lord Naarayana as God. Thus, Hiranyakashyapu discussed this matter with her sister who had the boon granted to her that; Fire will not do any harm to her body no matter what the situation is. Latter, she took the responsibility to burn Pralhad by placing him on her legs and sitting on fire. She did exactly the same and guess what? Prahalad came out from the fire unharmed. As ‘he’ had his faith on God he continuously chanted Vishnu mantras instead fire catch hold of Holika who was granted the so called boon. Since that day people light bourn fire in temples and celebrate Holi on the death of the demo ness. Brij Ki Holi / Lath Mar Holi: are very famous . Two towns (Mathura and Vrindavan) namely Nandagow (where Lord Krishna grew up) and Barsana (where Shri Radha grew up), near Mathura, are considered till today as the epicenter of the Holi celebrations. In India it is famously known as Vraj Ki Holi / Lath Mar Holi. While Lord Krishna was growing up in Vraj, he popularized the festival with his pranks. Where he played Holi with Gopies of Vraj and they also responded him with equal enthusiasm and the festivities have continued ever since. So, continuing this ritual Men and Women of Vraj even today clash in a colorful display of battle of the sexes. Men of Nandagow raid Barsana with hopes of raising their flag over Shri Radhikaji's temple. They receive a thunderous welcome as the women of Barsana greet them with long wooden sticks. The men are soundly beaten as they attempt to rush through town to reach the relative safety of Shri Radhikaji's temple. Men are well padded, as they are not allowed to retaliate. In this mock battle the men try their best not to be captured. Unlucky captives can be forcefully lead away, thrashed and dressed in female attire before being made to dance as a custom. This type of Holi is famously known as “Lath Mar Holi”!! Holi symbolizes the victory of good over evil.. The Holi of Mathura and Vrindavan region, are very famous because it the place where Krishna was born and spend his childhood days.People from all corners of India, rather, a representation of the world presenting look of a mini world gather at Mathura-Vrindavan every year to feel the essence of Holi in the land of Krishna. People relive the legends of Holi associated with Radha and Krishna and play pranks the young Krishna played with the cowgirls called gopis. The underlying feeling of this fun-frolic was love and devotion. Even today, romance can be experienced in the very atmosphere in the Krishna’s abode One just needs to breathe in this air and drench oneself in the feeling of love and romance. Myriad colours of Holi are simply a facade on this.Holi celebrations Continues for a Week because of an immensely strong bondage with Lord Krishna. The people of Mathura and Vrindavan celebrate Holi for over a week. Each major Krishna temple celebrates Holi on a different day.Of immense interest for the tourist is the celebrations which take place at the famous Bankey-Bihari Temple at Vrindavan. Drenched in the colours of Holi people can be found totally immersed in the spirit of devotion here.Another interesting place for Holi celebrations is Gulal-Kund in Braj; a beautiful little lake near Govardhan mountain. Here, the festival is commemorated on a more regular basis. Pilgrims can see the re-enactments of Holi throughout the year at this lake. Local boys, acting in the Krishna-Lila drama troupes re-enact the scenes of Holi for the pilgrims. So much is the passion of the people here, that they throng these temples every day and get drenched in coloured water…all in the name of the Lord they love so much.Holi in Barsana is also very famous in India.Holi of Barsana, the birthplace of Radha, a village, forty two kms away from Mathura, is of particular interest. Here, men from Nandgaon, the land of Krishna come to play Holi with the girls of Barsana and hope of raising their flag over Shri Radhikaji’s temple. But, instead of colours they are greeted with sticks by the gopis. Hence, the Holi get its new name here-Lathmaar Holi.Smart enough, men come fully padded as they are fully aware what kind of welcome awaits them and also the fact that they are not allowed to retaliate on that day.In this mock battle of sorts, they try their best not to be captured. The unlucky one’s however, are forcefully led away and get a good thrashing from the women. Further, they are made to wear a female attire and dance in public. All in the spirit of Holi.Renowned poets like Surdas, Nand-das, Kumbhan-das and others have picturesquely described how Lord Krishna received similar treatment and was forced to don a sari and wear make-up and perform dance before being released by the gopies. The next day, it is the turn of men of Barsana. They reciprocate by invading Nandgaon and drench the womenfolk of Nandgaon in colours full of bucket filled with solution made in fresh water with the orange-red dye and Palash. Today, the women of Nandagawn beat the invaders from Barsana. It is a colorful site. However, in the interest of tourism and safety, the state tourist board has set up excellent vantage points for the public. A large open ground, on the outskirts of the town is specially set aside for the most magnificent display of the festivities. The week long Holi celebrations also continue in the various Krishna temples on different days. The celebrations are filled with clouds of colors and of course with much fun.

Morning Greetings to all as flashed early the morning on the f.b. of March 16,2011

Bishwa Nath Singh

Good Morning/ Namaste /Pranam/Adab/Salam-Wale-Kum/Sat Shri Akal/Privet to all my friends and well-wishers living here or in abroad. It ‘s time to rise during morning in India. The fervor of Holi- a festival of colors is seen at and around everywhere in India when we forget our enmity and rejoice being friendly with all who are closely known to us by smearing Gulal ( red powder well scented) made of dried flowers on their face and wish them all the best in years to come.

Bishwa Nath Singh :
Holi- the festival of colors is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as 'Holika'. The festivals finds a detailed description in early religious works such as Jaimini's Purvamimamsa-Sutras and Kathaka-Grhya-Sutras. Historian...s also believe that Holi was celebrated by all Aryans but more so in the Eastern part of India. It is said that Holi existed several centuries before Christ. However, the meaning of the festival is believed to have changed over the years. Earlier it was a special rite performed by married women for the happiness and well-being of their families and the full moon was worshiped. The festival of Holi also finds a reference in the sculptures on walls of old temples. A 16th century panel sculpted in a temple at Hampi, capital of Vijayanagar, shows a joyous scene of Holi. The painting depicts a Prince and his Princess standing amidst maids waiting with syringes or pichkaris to drench the Royal couple in coloured water. A Sixteenth century Ahmednagar painting is on the theme of Vasanta Ragini - spring song or music. It shows a royal couple sitting on a grand swing, while maidens are playing music and spraying colors with pichkaris. There are a lot of other paintings and murals in the temples of medieval India which provide a pictoral description of Holi. For instance, a Mewar painting (circa 1755) shows the Maharana with his courtiers playing Holi.In some parts of India, specially in Bengal and Orissa, Holi Purnima is also celebrated as the birthday of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (A.D. 1486-1533). However, the literal meaning of the word 'Holi' is 'burning'. The festival is associated with various legends but the most popular among them is the tale of Hollika. According to legends there was a demon-king named Hiranyakashipu who was very cruel and ordered everybody to worship him and not God. He was against Lord Vishnu. However, his little son Prahlad refused to do so and continued to worship the almighty Lord Vishnu, the Hindu God. He tried hard to kill him but every time Lord Vishnu saved him. One of the sisters of the king named Holika had a boon to remain unscathed by fire, so she followed her brother’s wishes. However, with this sinful act against Lord Narayana’s devotee, Holika’s boon ended and she was burnt to ashes, while Prahlad came out safe. From that day onwards Holi is celebrated as the festival of the victory of good over evil. Even today, bonfires are lit on the night before Holi in memory of the event and burning of the evil Holika. It symbolizes the victory of Good over evil. The legend of Lord Krishna is also associated with play with colors as the Lord started the tradition of playing Holi with colors by applying color on his beloved Radha and other Gopis. Gradually, the play gained popularity with the people and became a tradition. There are also a few other legends associated with the festival - like the legend of Shiva and Kaamadeva and those of Ogress Dhundhi and Pootana. All depict triumph of good over evil - lending a philosophy to the festival. It is celebrated during the spring season and embodies all the festivity, liveliness and exuberance of the season. Holi is the festival of all hearts. Spraying colors, dancing on traditional Holi songs, musical drum beats and wild processions are the common scenes that one comes across during this festival. The Holi week has already begun and will last till the 20th of March 2011 in the places related with the birth and childhood f Lord Krishna known as Braj Bhumi. Let us celebrate it with gaiety and fervor and wish every body a Very happy & prosperous colorful Holi!

Lathi mar Holi is very popular in Barsane -birth place of Radha Rani. One can have glimpse of it in the above picture.. Holi for a week well in advance of the actual date of Holi is joyfully celebrated in Braja, especially at Varsana, Nandag...ram and Dauji. In Varsana the festival includes colorful processions with music, song, dance, and some boisterous scenes around the temples same time as Gaura Purnima. To celebrate Holi in the land of Krishna’s birth is an experience of a lifetime. While the rest of the country celebrates Holi only for one day, the streets of Mathura and Vrindavan are alive with colours, raas lilas and devotional fervour for a whole week. The pre-Holi festivities begin at the Gulal Kund in Braj. Situated near the Govardhan parbat, this beautiful little lake becomes the place for re-enactments of scenes from Krishna’s life by little boys and girls. Every temple celebrates Holi on a different day of the week and in a distinct manner. Not to be missed are the ceremonies at the Bankey Bihari temple in Vrindavan. The priests throw coloured water and marigold garlands into the surging crowd while it plunges forward to get a glimpse of their beloved Lord. For the entire week of Holi celebrations, Krishna’s birthplace comes alive with gulal-playing in the streets, exuberant pageants, raas lila festivals and singing contests. Little children dress up as Radha Krishna and enact scenes from Krishna’s life in Gokul The adventurous should head to Nandgaon-Barsana for the truly unique Latthmar Holi experience. The women of these towns, armed with latthis, embark on a mission to ‘capture’ as many men as possible. The men only have leather dhaals and padded clothing to protect them. It is in remembrance of the time when Krishna tried to sneak into Gokul to smear rang on Radha and her sakhis came together to teach him a lesson. It's a very joyful festival.Let us join to move to Braj Bhumi and celebrate colourful Holi there with great festivity!

Bishwa Nath Singh :
Holi commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the demoness named Holika. On the eve of Holi, large bonfires are lit to mark occasion and to burn evil spirits.A glimpse of such bonfires coul...d be seen in the above Photograph.India is a country rich with cultural diversities, homes of gods and goddesses where different aspects of mythological and traditional origins that forms the basis of numerous festivals we celebrate round the year. Perhaps, our country is the only nation that can boast of a festival almost every month! Each of these festivals has some significance and strong underlying message which conveys to the people the art of sensible living, righteousness and truthfulness .Holi too has its own relevance. Not just a colourful festival, there are various aspects of Holi which make it very significant to our lives. Ranging from socio-cultural, religious to biological there is every reason why people in India heartily enjoy the festival and cherish the reasons for its celebration. Holi or Holika, also called holikotsava, is an extremely popular festival observed throughout the country (India). It is especially marked by unmixed gaiety and frolics and is common to all sections of the people. This festival is very ancient. Known originally as 'Holika' it has been mentioned in very early religious works such as Jaimini's Purvamimamsa-sutras and Kathaka-grhya-sutras. It must have therefore existed several centuries before Christ. It was at first actually a special rite performed by married women for the happiness and well-being of their families and the full moon was the deity worshipped by them. There are two ways of reckoning a lunar month: Purnimanta and Amanta. In the former, the first day starts after the full moon; and in the latter, after the new moon. Though the latter reckoning is more common now, the former was very much in vogue in the earlier days. According to this purnimanta reckoning, Phalguna purnima was the last day of the year and the New Year heralding the Vasanta Ritu (with spring starting from next day). Thus the full moon festival of Holika gradually became a festival of merrymaking, announcing the commencement of the spring season. This perhaps explains the other names of this festival:There once lived a powerful and an evil king, Hiranyakashyap who considered himself God and wanted everybody toworship him. To his great ire, his son, Prahlad worshipped Lord Vishnu. To get rid of his son, Hiranyakashyap asked his equally evil sister, Holika to sit in the fire with Prahlad in her lap, hoping his son would perish, even as Holika had a boon or blessing that she could never get burnt with fire. But paradoxically Prahlad survived because of his extreme devotion to his lord, while Holika got burnt and paid the price for her sinister wish. To mark this fable, a day before Holi, people light a bonfire and celebrate this victory of good over evil.Even today, this story has great relevance. It teaches people to follow a good conduct in their lives and believe in the virtue of being truthful. This is extremely important in modern day society when so many people resort to evil practices for small gains and persecute an honest person. This festival edifies people to be honest and fight evil.Holi helps to bring the society together and strengthen the secular fabric of our country as the festival is celebrated by non-Hindus also. The tradition is that even enemies become friends on Holi and forget any feeling of hardship that may be present. It is true that the festival wipes out all bitterness and teaches one to let go of the past.Besides, on this day people do not differentiate between the rich and the poor. Everybody celebrates together with a spirit of bonhomie and brotherhood. In the evening people visit friends and relatives and exchange gifts, sweets and greetings. This helps in revitalizing relationships and strengthening emotional bonds between people. Laughter here is an outcome of joyful celebrations In other words, laughter signifies togetherness.Festivals in India bring people together and also bring more laughter and joy in their lives. This is exactly what happens in laughter clubs where people meet regularly for the sheer joy of being together. It was on this day that Lord Siva opened his third eye and reduced Kamadeva (the god of love, Cupid or Eros) to ashes. In some houses the image of Kamadeva is kept in the yard and a simple worship is offered. A mixture of mango blossoms and sandalwood paste is partaken as the prasad. The day- Phalgun krsna pratipad - is observed as a day of revelry especially by throwing on one another gulal or coloured water or perfumed colored powder. Throwing of mud or earth dust was prevalent in the earlier days also, but among the low culture groups.Instead of the gay and frenzied celebrations that are witnessed elsewhere in the country, Bengal observes this festival in a quiet and dignified manner as Dolapurnima or Dolayatra (the festival of the swing). The festival, said to have been initiated by the king Indradyumna in Vrndavana, is spread over three or five days, starting from the sukla Chaturdasi of Phalguna. A celebration in honour of Agni and worship of Govinda (Krsna) in image on a swing are the important features. The fire kindled on the first day is to be preserved till the last day. The swing is to be rocked twenty one times at the end of the festival. The day is also celebrated as the birthday of Sri Krsna Chaitanya (A.D. 1486-1533), mostly in Bengal, as also in Puri (Orissa), Mathura and Vrndavan (in Uttar Pradesh). It was again on this day that Dhundhi, who was troubling the children in the kingdom of Prthu (or Raghu) was made to run away for life, by the shouts and pranks of the mischievous boys. Though she had secured several boons that made her almost invincible, this - noise, shouts, abuses and pranks of boys - was a chink in her armour due to a curse of Lord Siva. The day itself came to be called 'Adada' or 'Holika' since then. Significance of Holi.Holi is the Indian festival of colors, which is the sign of happiness simultaneously for among all age of people. Holi celebrations in India cut across section and religious conviction. The festival of Holi and celebration of Holi bind citizens simultaneously. In spite of being such a multicoloured and gay celebration, there are various aspects of Holi which makes it so significant for our lives. Though they might not be so apparent but a closer look and a little thought will reveal the significance of Holi in more ways than meets the eyes. Ranging from socio-cultural, religious to biological there is every reason why we must heartily enjoy the festival and cherish the reasons for its celebrations. Holi also celebrate the legend of Radha and Krishna which describes the extreme delight, Krishna took in applying color on Radha and other gopis. This prank of Krishna later became a trend and a part of the Holi festivities. The tradition also states that Holi is the celebration of death of Ogress Pootana who tried to kill infant, Krishna by feeding poisonous milk to it. Let us join to celebrate this holy festival with gaiety and fervour to overcome differences with others in very festivity mood smearing colour on each other face with malice to none!

The US Navy is going to help transport food and people into the disaster area and helicopters on the aircraft carrier began airlifting food aid Sunday, as told to the Press media by spokesperson of the Japan's Defence Ministry A municipal official in Futaba town in Fukushima prefecture had told to the Press media that about ninety percent of the houses in three coastal communities had been washed away by the tsunami. The Japanese Prime Minister has doubled the number of soldiers sent to the disaster areas to one lakh as rescue workers were struggling to reach them as many roads were blocked by debris. He has appealed for utmost efforts to save the lives of as many people as possible,’ The Japanese Govt, will put all-out efforts into rescuing people who have been isolated. ‘Drinking water was transported to quake-hit regions by truck, and witnesses said residents were rushing to stock up on supplies at supermarkets and petrol stations, buying food and heating oil. Railway links to the quake-hit regions are to remain closed, Japan Rail said, but it resumed operations in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Highways were also closed. It is time that we must show our sympathies and concern to the victims of earthquake & tsunami that hardship they are facing in Japan and pray to the Lord Buddha to give them courage to come out successfully from the ravages of earthquake and tsunami soon and appeal to all to contribute generously to the Prime Minister Relief Fund of our country to rush up relief materials there to Japanese Prime Minister soon to be distributed amongst its victims.

I pray for this also. However, this will take some time. They need more than our prayers. They need us to reach into our pockets and send them money. Everything has been stripped clean down to the very grass that grew upon the dirt. It seems, in life, that the poor man is the very first to give, while the rich man keeps his hands stuffed firmly in his pockets.

His Holiness Satya Shri Sai Ram is our savior and emancipator as flashed on the f.b. on March 15,2011.

Bishwa Nath Singh :

His Holiness Satya Shri Sai Baba was seated on day in Dwarakamai, a lizard on the wall made a noise. A devotee sitting opposite to Baba, asked him why the lizard was making such a noise. Baba replied that the lizard’s sister was expected to... come from Aurangabad shortly, and so out of joy, it was making the noise. The devotee kept quiet. Just then a devotee came on horse from Aurangabad to see Baba. He wanted to feed the horse, and taking out the bag which was with him he shook it. A lizard fell from the bag and rapidly climbed the wall. Baba told the devotees who had questioned Baba earlier, to watch the lizards carefully. The lizard from Aurangabad met her sister and kissed. They played out of joy, going round and round. People sitting before Baba were very much surprised Where is Aurangabad? Where is Shirdi? If the lizards were sisters, how did they happen to be at such distances? How did Baba know that the lizard was coming from Aurangabad? Did he know the mind of animals and also their language? Such doubts arose in the devotees and they simply stared at Baba with surprise. Baba, who read the minds of the devotees said, "Not only about these lizards, but what is happening in every atom in this world, I know. Without my permission, the leaves on the tree also will not flutter. God is all powerful. All should follow the rules of this creation. Even I cannot go against them. God is the creator of all Universe. Allah Malik hai." There is another incidence that Bayaja Bai whom Baba addressed as Sister, became physically weak due to old age. She was not in a condition even to get up from bed. Baba ordered Tatya to remain at the bedside of his mother and do service to her. Now and then he would send Tatya’s close associates like Shama also to be with Tatya. Bayaja Bai was nearing her end . She wanted to see Baba once. Immediately, Baba appeared near her head. His appearance at this last moment gave her divine bliss. Some unexplained joy came to her. She felt that her soul was happily going towards heaven. Perhaps, this feeling was due to the complete divine darshan Baba gave her. She wanted to say something but words did not come out of her. She took her son Tatya’s hand and put it on Baba’s hand. Having understood her thoughts, Baba assured her that he would look after Tatya from that moment more than his life. She knew that his words were God’s words. After hearing those words from Baba, her soul left her body and merged in the universe. Such is our Savior and emancipator.Let us join to pay our humble obeisance to His lotus feet and seek His bliss for well-being of all living-being of this universe including those of quake and tsnami victims of Japan!

The literary meaning of Buddha, is one who is awake' in the sense of having 'woken up to reality' was the first title honored to Lord Buddha as flashed on the f.b. on March 15,2011.

The literary meaning of Buddha, is one who is awake' in the sense of having 'woken up to reality' was the first title honored to Lord Buddha. It was over two thousand five hundred years ago when Prince Siddhartha Gautam left all the worldly pleasures to attain the reality of life, and became the Buddha - the enlightened one.

Bishwa Nath Singh:

It was a state in which the Buddha gained an insight into the deepest workings of life and therefore into the cause of human suffering, the problem that had set him on his spiritual quest in the first place.
Siddhartha Gautama was born in 563 BCE in Lumbini in Nepal as a son of Shuddhodhana, the king of Kapilavastu and his Queen, Mayadevi. Unfortunately, Mayadevi died only seven days after the birth of Siddhartha and so, he was brought up by His stepmother, Gautami. It is interesting to note that when Siddhartha was born, the astrologers had predicted that the prince would sacrifice the comforts of the materialistic world and instead, opt for a path of His own. When the King Shuddhodhana came to know about the prediction, he naturally became extremely cautious and tried to prevent a thing that was bound to happen, and he did not let Siddhartha even move out of the palace. It was the deepest desire of the king that his son would fulfill his father's dream one day by becoming a King. of honor. When Siddhartha had grown into an intelligent young man, He moved out of his palace one day, and saw certain things that changed the entire course of His life. He first saw a very old man who could barely walk, a sick man who was in a severe pain, and lastly a corpse. Since, He had never been exposed to pain before, these sights affected him immensely, although his charioteer tried to explain Him that pain and death - both were inevitable. This entire episode turned his life and his heart compelled him to evaluate his life completely and then he began the search for the reason of existence. King Shuddhodhana got perturbed by whatever his son was going through and therefore, he arranged Siddhartha's marriage with a young and beautiful princess, Yasodhara. For some time, Siddhartha again got involved into the worldly pleasures, but somewhere at the back of His head, He had still not forgotten what he had seen! It was soon after the birth of son Rahul, that Siddhartha on a starry night, left His wife and son in deep slumber and left the palace.Siddhartha was only twenty nine when He had left home. For some time, he moved around the entire country meeting various sagas and saints in his quest for inner peace. It was during this period that Siddhartha lived the life of a hermit and involved himself in rigorous ' tapasya' in order to comprehend the reason for life and death. A time came when he realized that it was useless to torture one's body while finding the truth, and then, he denunciated the method of tapasya and fast. Then one fine day as Siddhartha reached Bodh Gaya and being very exhausted, He took a seat under the shade of a peepal tree and closed his eyes.He was in very shattered health. He came across a nearby village girl who cautioned him not to torture one’’s body as much as that it may not last long citing example of musical instrument Veena and offered him Pious made of rice,, milk and molasses. Later on, It was then that he felt one day a divine light coming within Himself. This was the turning point in His quest as he realised that the truth is within every human being and to search for it outside was baseless. After this incidence, He came to be known as ' Buddha' or the enlightened one. For forty five years, Buddha spread His message of spiritual life to not only His disciples but the common people as well. He gave emphasis on the purification of mind, heart and ultimately, soul by following the Eightfold Path, the Four Noble Truths and the Five Perceptions. This path included the right speech, understanding, determination, deeds, efforts, awareness, thinking and living. As per Buddhism, if one follows these paths, one could overcome desires, which were the reason for all their miseries and grieves. After spreading his message to the world successfully, Buddha died at the age of eighty years in 483 BCE. at Kushinagar, in Uttar Pradesh State of India. Today, Buddhism has a strong following in various Asian countries and is gradually finding its feet in some of the western countries as well. Japan adores him as an incarnation of God. Hardly, there is any house in Japan, where inmates have not converted their best room in a Pooja (worship) room where they have not installed a statue of Lord Buddha-such is their faith in Lord Buddha. Let us join to pay our humble obeisance to the lotus feet of Lord Buddha and seek His bliss for well-being of all living-being of this universe especially to all those in Japan who have suffered much due to the recent earthquake and tsunami that had caused havoc there.
