One can view as how colourful Republic Day Parade is held on Rajpath in New Delhi when our President of India takes National Salute, unfurls our National Flag and inspects Pared carried out by all wings of National Security forces..India be...ing our motherland has a very rich heritage and a great historic background especially when it came to the country’s freedom struggle from British Rule in Pre-independence era. The country had got its independence on the August 15,1947. It was two and half years later that the Indian constitution came into existence on January 26,1950. It is celebrated as a national holiday to mark the transition of India from a British Dominion to a republic on the 26th of January.Regarding the history of the festival, during the transition period from 1947 to 1950, the king George VI was the head of the state. Lord Mountbatten and C. Rajagopalachari served as the Governor General of India in this period. The 26th of January was when; the first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected. Most of all, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar was the head of the constituent assembly and played a played a major role in the formation of the constitution. .The Constituent Assembly was convened and appointed a committee with Dr. B.R.Ambedkar as Chairman to draft the Constitution. India declared herself to be a Sovereign Democratic Republic. The Indian Constitution, the longest in the world, consist 397 articles and 12 sc The Republic Day is one of the three national holidays of India and the greatest festival celebrated in the country. It is celebrated every year on January 26, in New Delhi with great pomp, fanfare and pageant. While in the capitals of the States and other headquarters, it is marked with patriotic fervor. The most spectacular celebrations are marked by the Republic Day Parade that takes place in the capital of New Delhi at Rajpath. It includes march past of the three armed forces, massive parades, folk dances by tribal folk from different states in picturesque costumes marking the cultural unity of India. Further, the streak of jet planes of Indian Air Force, leaving a trial of colored smoke, marks the end of the festival. It was the Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress at midnight of December 31, 1929 - January 1, 1930, that the Tri-Color Flag was unfurled by the nationalists and a pledge was taken that on January 26 every year, "Republic Day" would be celebrated and that the people would unceasingly strive for the establishment of a Sovereign Democratic Republic India. The professed pledge was successfully redeemed on January 26, 1950, when the Constitution of India framed by the Constituent Assembly of India came into force, although the Independence from the British rule was already achieved on August 15, 1947. It is because of this fact that August 15 is celebrated as Independence Day, while January 26 as Republic Day. It gives the right to vote to all citizens of eighteen years and above, unless they are disqualified. Fundamental rights are guaranteed to the citizens, equality of religion and so on. The Supreme Court, consisting of the Chief Justice of India and other judges, is the guardian of the Constitution. It stands at the apex of a single integrated judicial system for the whole country. This is where the fundamental rights of the citizens are protected. The constitution of India pledges to solemnly resolve to constitute India into a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic and secure to all citizens its rights like: (a)Justice, social, economic and political, (b)Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship,(c)Equality of status and of opportunity and to promote among them all national character and(d)Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation. The Republic occasion being a very important one, a grand parade is held at the capital, New Delhi annually. It takes place from the Raisiana Hill near the President House (Rashtrapati Bhavan) being the place of the President), along the Rajpath (path of the leaders), past India gate and on to the historic red fort. The commander in chief of the Indian armed forces that is none other but the president of India, takes the solute. The different regiments of the army, navy and the air force march past in all their finery and official decorations. The parade includes amusement displays on horses by the military men, other vibrant displays that include missiles, tanks, etc; the ceremony is traditionally ended with a flypast by the Indian air force jets. This is the largest scale celebration-taking place in India for the republic day.Celebrations on a smaller scale are held in state capitals, where mostly the Governor of the state unfurls the national flag. If he is absent for some reason, the Chief Minster takes the initiative. It is a big deal in school where children march past the hoisted tricolour flag, and have a small ceremony of their own. Sweets are distributed amongst the children. Many other places perform the flag hoisting ceremony and pay their respect the Republic day, and their nation, India. Let us celebrate it with gaiety and fervour and remember all those who had sacrificed their lives for attaining Republic of our country and pay our floral tribute to all security forces of our country that are on vigil to protect & save solemnity of our motherland!
