Pandit Bhim Sen Joshi , a well-reputed Induan Vocalist in the Indian Classical tradion who was born on February 4, 1922 was an Indian vocalist in the Hindustani classical tradition into a Kannada Brahmin family in the town of Gadag in northern part of Karnataka state of India who well-reputed member of the Kirana Gharana (school) an...d a renowned singer for the khayal form of singing, as well as widely popular for devotional music has passed away today on January 24, 2011, at the age of eighty nine years in Pune after prolonged illness He was the recipient of India's highest civilian award “Bharat Ratna,:that was awarded to him for his meritorious service in the field of music in the year 2008. He will be remembered for long for his great contribution in the field of Classical Music. Let us join to pay our homage to him and pray to the Almighty God to grant eternal peace to his departed soul and offer our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family!
