Greetings to all on the eve of Dussehra that is being celebrated today with gaiety as flashed on the f.b on October 17,2010.

Bishwanath Singh :
The Dussehra or Vijayadashmi is an important festival of our country that falls on the 17th of October 2010. The Dussehra is interpreted as "Dasa-Hara", which means the cutting of the ten heads of Demon King of Lanka, Ravana. It was on the very day of Dussehra that Lord Ram had killed the great demon King of Lanka, Ra...vana, who had abducted Lord Ram's wife Sita to his kingdom of Lanka. Lord Ram, along with his brother Lord Lakshman and devoted follower Lord Hanuman, and an army of monkeys fought a great battle to rescue his lovely spouse Sita. The war against Demon King Ravana lasted for ten days. Sita had been returned to her husband. Lord Ram and all of them are making their way to Ayodhya in triumph and glory. Dussera is celebrated on the tenth day-a day after Navratri. It marks the end of the nine days of Navratri. Vijayadashami is also known as Dussehra that celebrates the homecoming of Lord Rama the hero of the epic Ramayana, after he rescued his wife Sita from Ravana, the king of Lanka. Let us celebrate this great festival with gaiety!

Dussehra is also known as Vijaya Dasami, because of the victory of Ram over Ravana. On this day in Satya Yug, Ram (the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu), killed the great demon and king of Lanka, Ravana. Our ancient epics such as Puranas a...lso opined that on this day warrior Goddess Durga defeated and killed the buffalo demon Mahishasura. Let us pay our humble obeisance's to the lotus feet of Lord Ram,Lord Lakshman & Lord Hanumam on the eve of Dussehra and seek their bliss for well-being of all living-being of this universe!

Let me convey my heartiest greetings and wish a very happy & prosperos Dussehra or Vijoyadashmi to all of my friends ,relations and well-wishers on the auspicious eve of Dussehra! Dussehra is also known as Vijaya Dasami, because of the victory of Lord Ram over the Demon king of Lanka Ravana. On this day in Satya ...Yug, Lord Ram-the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu had killed the great demon and king of Lanka, Ravana.Dassehra or Vijoyadashmi is also celebrated to commemorate the defeat of Mahishasur at the hands of Goddess Durga. It is only with this notion that arms are worshipped at most of the places by arms holders on the eve of Dussehra. As regards opening of new accounts ,it is done on the eve of Deepawali or Diwali at most of the places in our sde. According to Hindu tradition, Mahishasur was a demon who unleashed a reign of terror all over the earth and the heavens. Since he could not be killed by any God nor a mortal man, it was decided that a woman would have to kill him. Accordingly, the trinity of Goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati were transformed into a single being, namely Durga. Let us celebrate it with very pious intention with malice to none with great fervor with happy note of renewal of friendship with all nearest & dearest one whom we love and hold in great esteem with no inimical notion with any one which we happen to know.
