Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance had reinstated her full support to the institution of a Lok Pal that is consistent with the practices and conventions of parliamentary democracy,As for statements appearing in the m...edia, she had assured Anna Hazare that she does not support nor encourage the politics of smear campaign as she had said in her letter written on April 19, which was distributed to the media on April 20,2011.She had further said that Lok Pal bill was very much a part of the agenda of the NAC,..Anna Hazare had written to Sonia Gandhi recently that corrupt forces were trying to derail the process of drafting a new anti-graft law. The letter of Sonia Gandhi was delivered to Anna Hazare ,the social activist in the wake of controversies surrounding a CD containing a purported telephonic conversation between Co-Chairperson of the joint committee for Draft Committee of the Lokpal Bill Shanti Bhushan, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and former Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh, allegedly about attempting to influence a judge. The social reformer had also referred to the comments made by Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, asking if Sonia Gandhi as the President of AICC personally approved of his statements.lLet us hope that Lok Pal Bill will be drafted well in time and get through in both the Parliaments and signed by the President of India without much delay to deliver fruits to the people at large of our motherland!
