Good Friday happens to be today the 22nd of April 2011 during this calendar year.It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, is a religious holiday observed primarily by Christians commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his d...eath at Calvary. The holiday is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.Based on the details of the Canonical gospels, the Crucifixion of Jesus was most probably on a Friday The estimated year of Good Friday is AD 33, by two different groups, and originally as AD 34 by Isaac Newton via the differences between the Biblical and Julian calendars and the crescent of the moon.A third method, using a completely different astronomical approach based on a lunar Crucifixion darkness and eclipse model consistent with Apostle Peter's reference to a "moon of blood" in points to Friday, 3 April AD 33 .Christians cover all crosses, pictures and statues in black and extinguish all candles to symbolize mourning for Christ's death. Catholics keep fast during the day and attend church or meditate at home for an hour. The day is celebrated in different ways around the globe, but the essence of the day remains the same Good Friday is a day of sadness, in which churches are empty and dark. Services are held in the afternoon. Many churches have a bitter drink prepared from leaves, vinegar, and other ingredients. This drink is for everyone to taste after the service Good Friday is the day when Christians commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. This is an important event in Christianity, as it represents the sacrifices and suffering in Jesus' life.Good Friday is the Friday immediately preceding Easter Sunday. It is celebrated traditionally as the day on which Jesus was crucified Many Christian churches celebrate Good Friday with a subdued service, usually in the evening, in which Christ’s death is remembered with solemn hymns, prayers of thanksgiving, a message centered on Christ suffering for our sakes, and observance of the Lord's Supper. Whether or not Christians choose to “celebrate” Good Friday, the events of that day should be ever on our minds because the death of Christ on the cross is the paramount event of the Christian faith. The day of Good Friday is observed as a day of fasting and penance in the memory of crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. On this day, the church commemorates Jesus' arrest, his trial, crucifixion and suffering, death, and burial. Since services on this day are to observe Jesus' death, and since Eucharist is a celebration, there is traditionally no Communion observed on Good Friday. In addition, all pictures, statues, and the cross in churches are covered in mourning black. The priest and the choir wear black cassocks and the chancel and altar coverings are replaced with black. Even the altar candles are extinguished The Seven Last Words of Christ are read from the following Bible passages: “Father, forgive them . This day you will be with me in paradise Woman, behold your son. My God, my God . I thirst. It is finished! Father into your hands.”Let us celebrate Good Friday in remembrance of Jesus Christ who lived and died for well-being of humanity as whole and resolve to serve mankind as whole for cause of humanity and follow teachings of Jesus Christ in our life to make it very blissful!
