The power cuts across the city of Patna, the capital of Bihar State of India had deprived the residents of the excitement of the first innings in the nerve-wracking ICC Indo-Pak World Cup semi-final match. The thunderstorm uprooted trees, sn...apping power lines and causing breakdown at several power sub-stations and feeders, which plunged major parts of Patna into darkness. Areas most affected by powercuts were Kankerbagh, Saidpur, Danapur, Digha, Gardanibagh, Anisabad, Dakbangalow Chowk and Phulwarisharif. Initially, almost entire Patna was affected by the breakdown but Power Board had managed to restore supply later on by their hectic job. The Met director of Patna while attributing the sudden change in weather conditions to cyclonic circulation had said a low-pressure area was prevailing over Bihar and adjoining parts of Uttar Pradesh, leading to cyclonic circulation. Owing to this condition, parts of Bihar, particularly the western region, witnessed cloud cover and light rainfall in few places in the past three days,. Patna had witnessed rainfall in the evening of the 30th of March 2011.
