Today happens to be the ninth day of Navratri when we worship the ninth form of Goddess Durga as Goddess Siddhi Datri. On the ninth day, Goddess Durga is worshiped in the form of Siddhidatri. There are eight Siddhis — Anima, Mahima, Garima..., Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Lishitva and Vashitva. Maha Shakti gives all these Siddhis. Lord Shiva obtains all these Siddhis by worshipping Maha Shakti. With her Grace one-half of Shiva’s body is turned into a goddess, and, therefore, he is known as Ardhanarishvar. Ma Siddhi Datri has four hands and this form of Goddess Durga is worshipped by all rishis, munis, siddhas and yogis. She looks blissful and has happy enchanting pose. She rides on the lion and seems always ready to give boons to all. With the gratitude of Goddess Siddhi Datri, Lord Shiva’s body also contains the Goddess and so he has the form and name of Ardha Narishvar. Ardha means half. The Goddess rides on a lion. The Siddhi Datri form Of Goddess Durga is worshipped by all gods, rishis, munis (Saints and Sages), yogis, sadhakas (Devotees) for attaining merit and boons of their severe penances. Usually Goddess Siddhi Datri is seen ensconced a lotus with four arms, She is the grantor of twenty six different wishes to her devotees.. The devotees throng temples of Goddess Durga during the nine days of Navaratri and seek blessings of the Goddess for peace and prosperity. They offer fruits, milk, red cloths, sweets, flowers, money, ghee and kumkum to the Goddess Durga.Let us join to pay our humble obeisance to Her lotus feet and seek Her bliss for well-being and prosperity of all living-being of this universe!
