The above mantra is chanted to please Goddess Katyayani -the sixth form of Goddess Durga on the sixth day of Navratri.It translates in to English as foloows:"O Katyaayni! MahaaMayey (Names of Holy Ma, the Mother Goddess) Supreme Lord of al...l great Yoginis, Make Shree Krishna, my husband Prostrations unto Thee.Mantra to be chanted before you begin your studies".Goddess Katyayani in this sixth form of Goddess Durga who is worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri with great devotion. She is four-armed and carries a sword, shield and lotus. One hand is depicted as giving blessing. She rides a lion. Sage Katyaayan was the son of the great sage Kat. Katyayan had observed rigorous penance and worship of "Bhagavati Paramba with a desire to get paramba daughter. The wish was granted and she took birth as a daughter of Katyaayan and therefore named as Katyaayni "". She has four hands. The top right hand is positioned in a gesture of providing courage and the other hand is positioned in a gesture of rendering a boon. The top left hand is holding a sword and the other holding a lotus. The Goddess is mounted on a lion and she is worshiped on the sixth day of the Durga puja. If one worships the deity with a pure soul he attains success in religion, wealth, passion and salvation. Disease, sorrow and fear are eliminated. The goddess Tripura Sundari in her aspect as Shodasi is represented as a sixteen-year-old girl, and is believed to embody sixteen types of desire. Tripura Sundari, also called Shodashi, Lalita and Rajarajeshvari. Tripura Sundari, also called Shodashi, Lalita and Rajarajeshvari, is one of the group of ten goddesses of hindu belief and these goddesses are collectively called mahavidyas. Let us join to pay our humble obeisance to Her lotus feet and seek Her bliss for providing us wisdom and also well-being of all living-being of this universe!
