How many of us remember as who was that great sport personality of our country who had honor to be proud flag bearer of Indian Contingent during both opening & closing ceremonies at the IXth Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982?He was none else than Maharaja Karni Singh who had honor to be unbeaten National Champion in Clay Pigeon trap for seventeen years from the year 1960 to 1977.He had distinction to compete in five Olympic held at Rome,Tokyo,Mexico.Munich & Moscow. He was also recipient of the most prestigious award of ‘Arjuna Award” for shooting sorts in 1962.Though, he is more on this worldly earth but will be remembered for long for his great contribution. Let us join to pay our floral tribute to the memories of that great towering personality of our motherland who established name & fame of our country in all over the world!

Bishwa Nath Singh:
 Maharaja Dr. Karni Singh was born on April 21,1942 widely known for his statesmanship, as a great scholarly figure and a great social activities. He was the eldest son of Late Sri Sadul Singhji Bahadur and grandson of Late Sri Ganga Si...nghji Bahadur. His father Shri Sadul Singhji of Bikaner, was the first prince to accede his state into the India Union at the time of Independence and thereby provided the important historic lead to all others to follow suit and which led to the creation of an United India.. His preliminary schooling was completed in Bikaner. He did his B.A (Hons.) in history from St. Stephens College, Delhi. For his thesis 'Relationship of Bikaner Royal Family with Central Authority (1465-1949)' Bombay University honored him with Ph.d. He represented Bikaner Parliamentary Constituency in Lok Sabha ( Indian Parliament ) for five consecutive terms lasting over a quarter of a century from 1952 to 1977 He married in 1944 to Princess Sushila Kumari, daughter of the Maharawal Laxman Singhji of Dungarpur. He succeeded his father in 1950. He was blessed with one son Maharaj Kumar Narendra Singhji, and two daughters, Princess Rajyashree Kumari and Princess Madhulika Kumari. Dr. Karni Singh was dedicated to the cause of Rajasthani. He vehemently and incessantly pleaded for the inclusion of this language in the 14th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. As an outstanding player, he participated in many Olympic and Asian Games in clay pigeon shooting and brought name and fame to India by winning gold and silver medals. He was a great scholar. His thesis on the 'Relationship Of Bikaner Royal Family with the central Authority' is a master piece in itself. Dr. Karni Singh was dedicated to the cause of Rajasthani. He vehemently and incessantly pleaded for the inclusion of this language in the 14th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. He was a world known shooter. As an outstanding player, he participated in many Olympic and Asian Games in clay pigeon shooting and brought name and fame to India by winning gold and silver medals. At the IX Asiad in New Delhi in 1982, Dr. Karni Singh was the proud flag bearer of the Indian contingent at the open and the closing ceremony. He has been the unbeaten National Champion in Clay Pigeon Trap for seventeen years, i.e. from 1960 to 1977. He competed in five Olympic namely- Rome, Tokyo, Mexico, Munich and Moscow. He was acclaimed with the Prestigious Award 'ARJUNA AWARD' for shooting sports in 1962. He had Won the North western cup and the Welsh Grand Prix, England (1984).He had also honor to win the British grand prix in England (1985) Won the Veterans' Gold Medal.. The sudden demise of Maharaja Dr. Karni Singh on 6th September 1988 was a great blow to the people of our country as whole and Rajasthan State in particular. Later on, his daughter Princess Rajyashree also became shooting champion of fame.Let us join to pay our humble obeisance's to His lotus feet and also pay our respectful homage to Him whopse memories will remain always alive in our heart!
